We spoke with two of our summer interns, Abby R. and Brooke L., about their experience with Hilton Grand Vacations. The consensus? Gain Experience and Boost Confidence

Brooke and Abby started their internships with different backgrounds and expectations. Brooke is studying agricultural communications and agribusiness marketing at Purdue University. “I wanted to get an idea of what it’s like to be a communications professional at a leading company,” she said. “I was looking for an opportunity to grow professionally and personally, and HGV gave me that opportunity.”

For Brooke, the corporate communications internship was the perfect next step in her career trajectory. She worked on projects across the scope of corporate communications, from press lists to Team Member announcements to Club Member and Owner communications.

“It’s like I’ve had three mini internships in one,” Brooke laughed. “I’ve enjoyed getting a taste of the different aspects of corporate communications. I’m about to enter my senior year and explore careers after graduation. It’s nice to try out different aspects of the field to help point me in the right direction. It’s insightful to see how the team functions and manages all those different projects.”

Abby, on the other hand, enjoyed the chance to explore potential career paths. Her background is in film production, but she joined as the Content and Social Media Intern. “This internship impacted me a lot. It taught me that I could have a sustainable career in social media,” she explained. “I knew I enjoyed social media, but I didn’t know it was something I could see myself doing until I took this internship.”

Abby spent her internship gathering user-generated content for Instagram , writing copy and helping plan upcoming photo shoots. In the fall, Abby will return to the University of Central Florida with newfound confidence and a potential career path. “I’ve grown a lot here, and I think it’s changed my trajectory. Before, social media wasn’t my forte professionally. But because of this internship, I’ve become more sure of my ability to adapt and grow.”

HGV Serves and Leadership Series

We strive to ensure that HGV interns get the most out of their experience. In addition to work experience, we provide interns the chance to explore HGV.?

“I was excited that it wasn’t just an internship where I was a low-level coffee runner,” Abby said with a laugh.

To support professional development, interns met weekly for a leadership series, diving into networking, cooperation and other important skills. “We also learned from some senior leaders at HGV and heard about their career journeys. So we were not only working on hands-on projects but also learning skills that will be beneficial in our professional careers,” said Brooke.

Interns even had a chance to step away from their desks and participate in an HGV Serves project. “The interns all took a day to help recycle soap to repurpose through Clean the World as part of HGV’s corporate social responsibility program. HGV Serves is unique, especially to experience as an intern. It’s a break from your day to give back to the community. It was fun to serve and meet other Team Members from different teams and come together to give back,” said Abby.

Be Part of the Team

Although the internship process may seem intimidating, Abby found a team excited to have her on board. “Before the interview with the social media team, I was terrified. But I clicked with them immediately. It was easy to accept the internship because I felt welcome from the beginning,” she said.

Brooke agreed. “Something that surprised me about this internship was how HGV prioritizes people. Since day one, I felt welcome at HGV. Everyone cared about me and invested time into me and my career. Plus, I appreciated the work-life balance and company culture here. It’s been a great summer.”

Abby similarly felt valued as an intern. “I’ve worked with seasoned professionals who treat me like a peer. I’ve gained confidence in my capabilities that I didn’t have before,” she said.
