3 Reasons Ageless Resumes Fail

Many age 40+ job seekers have been advised to use an ageless resume, or a resume that hides your age.
Outplacement firms, most career coaches/authors, certified professional resume writers, high volume "resume mills", and job board resume services teach/use excluding dates and/or early career to trick an ATS by hiding age.
The theory behind this is that Applicant Tracking Systems can be used to screen out resumes that include dates prior to a target date.
But here are 3 reasons that Ageless Resumes fail far more often than they succeed:
- ATSs Can Also Be Used To Screen For Excluded Information: Savvy recruiters/HR reps can also use ATSs to screen out resumes that exclude information where it's expected ... like dates. When recruiters want to screen out candidates that hide information, like dates, they use what IT professionals call a "null search". This helps recruiters/HR reps in their due diligence to screen out candidates hiding jail time, theft, fraud, or any other reasons to hide career info.
- Hidden Dates Stick Out Like A Red Flag: If you get through the ATS, when a recruiter/HR rep is visually pre-screening your resume, by the time they get to your 2nd page they are reading in detail. When you exclude dates it sticks out like a red flag and adds another risk to your resume - What are you hiding? Age? Theft? Fraud? Jail time? Bad company exit? When a recruiter/HR rep has more qualified candidates than interview spots, this makes it easy to screen you out.
- You'll Fail A Face To Face Interview: We all feel young, and our friends tell us how great we look. But in reality, few age 40+ candidates can pass for even 5 years younger than they are during a stressful interview, with a stranger, especially on video that adds 10 pounds. Even if you have more plastic surgery than Joan Rivers, you set yourself up to fail a face to face interview, because the interviewer's first impression is that you deceived them ... because you did. You're not going to get hired if you can't establish trust.
There are much more effective ways to beat ageism than deceiving employers.
Why not let me teach you how to change your resume/job search strategies to beat ageism? While we're at it, I'll teach you ways to accelerate your job search, so you can find your next job in early 2021.
This is the 3rd recession I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recessions. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recession job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.
That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers this March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, January and February - every week since mid-March.
As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.
I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.
But I've been teaching job seekers to accelerate their job searches for 13+ years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to accelerate your job search so you can find a job fast by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.
(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 16+ years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)
Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find a job fast, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers/industry/location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
