[Reported by al-Bayhaqiyy in al-Asmaa’ waS-Sifaat]

Imam Dhul-Nun Abu Al-Fayd Thawban Ibn Ibrahim Al-Misri, a great scholar of the Salaf, was born in 179 AH and passed away in 245 AH in Cairo (???? ????).?

(Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq, son of Muhammad al-Baqir, son of Zayn al-Abidin Aliyy, son of al-Husayn, may Allah be pleased with them all, who passed away in the year 148 of the Hijri calendar, said :

"Whoever claims that Allaah is within something, or derived from something, or above something, has associated others with Allaah. For if He were above something, He would be carried; if He were within something, He would be confined; and if He were derived from something, He would have come into existence, meaning He would be created.")

[Reported by Al-Qushayri in Al-Risalah Al-Qushayriyyah]

Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allaah be pleased with him, said :

(al-‘ajzu ‘an darakil-‘idraaki ‘idraakun, wal-bahthu ‘an dhaatihi kufrun wa ‘ishraak)

"Recognizing one’s inability to grasp the reality of Allaah is itself knowledge, and seeking to comprehend His essence leads to disbelief and polytheism."

[ Reported by Imam Badruddin Az-Zarkashi in his book Tashnif Al-Masaami? ]

The Grand Imam Ahmad Ar-Rifa’i, may Allaah be pleased with him, said :?

(Ghaayatou l-ma?rifati bi lLaahi al-‘iiqaanou biwoujouudihi ta?aalaa bi laa kayfin wa laa makaan)

what means in English :

"The utmost limit of knowledge one can have of Allaah is to be certain of His existence, exalted is He, without ascribing a 'how' (as He is unique) and without assigning a place (before and after creating all things)."

[Reported in his book Al-BurHan Al-Mu’ayyad]

The scholar Dhul-Nun Al-Misri said :

(maHma tasawwartahu bi-baalik, fa lLaahu bi khilaafi dhalik)

"Whatever you imagine in your mind, Allaah is not like that."

[Reported by the Hafidh Abu Bakr Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi in his book Tarikh Baghdad with a chain of transmission going back to Dhul-Nun Al-Misri, and also reported by Abu Al-Fadl At-Tamiimiyy Al-Hambali in his book I?tiqad Al-Imam Ahmad.]

→ The Prophet MuHammad said what means in English :

? That he was sent by Allaah.

? That the Qur’aan is the Word of Allaah.

→ The Qur’aan has been transmitted to us through a mutawaatir chain of narration :

? It is categorically established that the Qur’aan is true.

About Islaam :

Islaam is not the last monotheistic religion but the first and only religion of pure and unaltered monotheism.?

It is a permanent miracle made unalterable by Allaah.

The Qur’aan has two meanings :

1. The first meaning :

The Qur’aan is the Word of Allaah in the sense of His unique attribute, just like His Being and attributes are uniquely perfect and belong to Him alone.?

In this sense, the Qur’aan, as the Word of Allaah, is neither in a human language such as Arabic nor in any other language of creation.?

It consists of neither sounds nor letters.?

The Word of Allaah has neither beginning nor end.

2. The second meaning :

The Qur’aan as the revealed book of Allaah’s Word is the expression of His attribute of speech, revealed to His creation in a clear Arabic language.?

Similarly, other divine books were revealed in other languages, such as Hebrew and Syriac, before the Qur’aan, which Allaah has rendered unalterable.

Regarding the Religion of Islaam :

Allaah, Exalted is He, says what we understand :

"Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allaah is Islaam."

(Surah Aal ‘Imraan, Aayah 19)

And He also says :

"And whoever seeks a religion other than Islaam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter, he will be among the losers."

(Surah Aal ‘Imraan, Aayah 85)

Regarding Paradise :

Allaah, Exalted is He, says about Paradise what we understand :

"...it has been prepared for the pious."

Regarding Hellfire :

Allaah, Exalted is He, says about Hellfire what we understand :

"...it has been prepared for the disbelievers."

---

Recap :

1. The means by which humans acquire knowledge.

2. This universe is created, meaning it has a beginning.

3. Reason demonstrates that the universe has A Creator.

4. Allaah is The Creator of the universe.

5. The existence of our master MuHammad (peace be upon him) is confirmed.

6. Our master MuHammad is a Prophet.

7. He is truthful in everything he transmitted from Allaah.

8. The Qur’an is the truth.

---

Conclusion :

Healthy reason bears witness to the truthfulness of Islaam.
