Do you ask questions as a candidate in an interview? Most candidates don’t because of two reasons - one is because of the mindset that generally it is the interviewer who is supposed to ask questions and second is that they do not possess?the skill of asking good questions. Interview preparation is as mandatory as a passport while travelling abroad. So before every interview you as a candidate need to prepare well because asking good questions can put you at the top of the heap where you stand out.
So which are the 3 questions that you absolutely MUST ask as a candidate at the end of every interview. Here they are:
Question 1: Please tell me what are your expectations from me in the first 90 days.
?This question helps you understand whether the expectations are realistic and practical or are they simply unworkable. Targets and expectations can be ambitious however if they are way beyond the mark, it gives you an indication and you need to think about it. It also tells how empathetic and adaptable is the work culture.
Question 2 : What are the parameters you use to evaluate performance of your employees.
This question gives you an idea whether there are systems in place with clearly set objectives. Because if there are no clear parameters to evaluate performance then it can create problems in managing your relationships with your seniors as well as team members.
?Question 3 : Can you tell me of any instance when for this specific position there was a bad hire which means that the new hire did not work out at all and he/she left or was asked to go.

?This gives you an idea of what exactly does the role demand, what kind of skills are required and what’s the kind of attitude that gels well with the company culture. It also tells you something about the boss who?you would be working with. The inputs prepare you well for knowing where you stand in terms of a match of your skills, experience and expertise with the job’s requirement.
?Some interviewers may answer all these questions satisfactorily while few may not. However as the good old saying goes……Ask and you shall receive. You need to ask these questions because it involves your career move and it is always advisable to ask so that you are in a better position to take a considered decision.
?Best wishes for your job search.
