3 Questions from my Clumsy Friend, The Most Beautiful Grandbaby EVER, Experiencing a Personal Awakening

Thursday, love the fedora, how are you, sit a spell whilst I make some soup for those hungry for some mind food. I make food daily, it’s free, and some folks get angry with my words. Hopefully, you find hope and joy in these words.

I got an email from a friend, well, hold on this, a friend needs a name and a back story. Patrick is a younger man, about 35 or so, very successful, in love with his partner and recently tore his ACL while on a Peloton. Aside from being clumsy as hell, he’s an insightful human being.

The email I received had three questions, and I told him I would make this the rue of my soup. So here are the questions he posed in the manner he posed them.

1. What’s a way in which I served someone today.

2. What’s a way in which somebody helped me.

3. How can I be better tomorrow.

Love this.

Patrick

Do you serve people daily? Do you help others, or do you choose to only do deeds for yourself? In most of our vocations, you can point to a point in time where you helped another human.  Helping others is in our DNA; it’s what we do, but the question is powerful if asked daily.

Who helped you? Every day we get assistance from other humans. Be kind, say thank you, and try and pay it forward. We don’t accomplish much alone; it’s only with the help of others that we can move mountains.

How can one be better? A great final question. I think daily improvement is a goal for all. Why move backward when moving forwards is tasty. Speaking of tasty, I made some actual soup yesterday, a white soup with beans and sausage, creamy like clam chowder; my Queen and kid watched as I cooked, throwing in various ingredients, but the finished pot was perfect.

We worked until 4:00 then headed down the hill; we needed some more food for dinner. As we entered the store, my baby girl called to check on her dad. She and her husband were going to church; we planned a facetime call for tonight. As that call ended, my son and granddaughter face timed me; I must say I have the most beautiful granddaughter in the world. We chatted as she was in the tub, laughing and clapping her hands. I made a great kid in Tanner, but I think he might have one-upped his father with this one.

We got our packages from UPS; I received my base layer.  We called these items long underwear as a kid, but the cool kids renamed it “base layer.” The other thing to share is that long underwear was cheap; the base layer is costly.

I was asked if I was bitter yesterday. I made the mistake of logging into Facebook and noticed a comment on my soup. I’m not a bitter man, I operate on the fuel of joy and happiness, and I’m in love with the most beautiful woman in the world.

We had a couple of drinks at Brooks; my partner shared his distaste for social media; I remind her I had eliminated that bane she is soon to follow. Social media used to be fun, we could follow our friends in both our home states, but recently it has become a shitshow of political bullshit. If you want to connect with me, text me, call me, let’s meet, I’m done with the matrix, no more social distortion for Anson.

We hung some Christmas lights at our world headquarters in Beautiful Parker City, In. A young entrepreneur started a Christmas lights business as a part of his landscape business.  One of my teammates just sent me a photo; it looks badass; I’m not a big Christmas guy, but lighting up our building is a gift to our community; I encourage you to follow suit; let’s make this holiday season one for the ages.

Crate training for Parker Van Halen Thompson seems to be working. Fewer accidents, she’s a great addition to our family, just trying to figure out how to train this beast. In her first week, she learned to sit, stay, and lay down; she’s smart; we will teach her to be a socially agreeable citizen.

We are building bunks for our grandkids. I sent my kids a video of the work being done. We are making five built-in bunk beds for our future offspring; it looks cool as hell, an enticement to get our kids coming west.

I’ve got a few meetings today, meeting a friend and then a stranger later. He owns a business; a friend referred him; we will see if he needs our services; if not, no worries, we work from an abundance mentality. It will be nice to connect with a new human. Remember, human connection is the fuel of humanity.

Well, I need to run; I have a 7:30 meeting, a Zoom with some other folks around Denver. We’re talking about how to finish strong in these unique times.  I hope you have a fantastic day; I hope you find joy and happiness and not bitterness; it’s easy if you focus on your own life and not the lives of others.  This is a time of personal awakening; I encourage you to do the same.
