3 Questions With Emma Farley, Business Development Associate

A very warm welcome to Emma Farley, who joined Elder earlier this month as our new Business Development Associate. We sat down with her to get insight into what she's looking forward to in her new role and hear her personal live-in care story.?

?

Tell us a bit about yourself, and what attracted you to join Elder?

My name is Emma, and I am the new Business Development Associate at Elder. I previously worked at Nuffield Health Staffordshire, where my role was Customer Service Advisor and GP Liaison officer. I also previously worked as a Travel Agent at Thomas Cook.

I was attracted to join Elder after researching the company and its values. For the support they give families to ensure their loved ones are able to stay at home, having witnessed this first hand.

Alongside working at Elder, you told us that your family also use Elder to support with care for your Grandparents. Could you share your experience with our service?

Both my grandparents have dementia, my grandad was diagnosed 8 years ago, and we had been managing with the care from my grandmother and family members. Last year in October, my grandmother had a fall at home. She was taken to hospital and returned to the family home a different lady. She required round-the-clock care.?

After discussions within our family, we all felt it would be more suited for them to stay in their own home together, and that live-in care was the best solution to keep our family network safe.? My Mother and Father supported during the week with 24-hour care, and Elder ensures that they both get the rest they deserve and need at the weekend when Elder takes over.?

We were dubious about “strangers” coming into the home with the grandparents. However, they have both taken to this so well. They refer to the carers as “the young ladies here to stay for a few nights” and some have become our adoptive family members.

Every carer that has attended the family home, has been amazing; loving, caring, and attentive. They have treated my grandparents with the utmost respect and dignity they deserve.?

The Customer Executives keep our family up to date with any relevant information regarding our next carer to attend, and touch base to find out how things have been going after their visit. As a family, we are grateful for the service Elder provides to enable us to have these precious moments with our loved ones.

Looking into the future at Elder- what are you excited about?

Looking into the future, my goal is to be able to support and advise our new clients on our services. I want to let people know about how something so simple can change families' lives for the better, ensuring loved ones can enjoy time in their safe haven. And that companies alike can partner with our business, to help their clients.
