3 Ps of Effective Learning
I call it the P^3 = P + S formula. Want to know more…
The First P
Your first encounter with this phrase was probably when you didn’t even know how to speak, forget understanding the meaning of the word itself. Do you remember first time you heard "Be Patient" or "Have Patience".
Most likely it came from our very first and best teacher in Life .. Our Mum.And most of us would hate to admit this but we all secretly know Mum is always right , Of course your Boss is always right too. I am not challenging that one.
Patience does not mean waiting indefinitely and thinking that someone else will do the work for you. Patience means you do your bit and give time to your hard work to become evident.
This is one virtue we can learn from our farmers. He does not sow the seeds in morning and harvest the crops in evening. He nurtures it everyday and waits for months for it to flourish. Would you like it if he uses a magic potion to grow them in a day.. Will you consume it ?
So Indeed my friend Patience does qualify as the most important and crucial virtue for every student.
The Second P
Any guesses for the Second P, The P that makes you Perfect.. Bingo! Practise it is
But Personally I don’t Like the saying Practise makes a man perfect. What about the other half of the world (I am not getting into the intricacies and Statistics, I am assuming we are 1:1) Perhaps the wise man thought the other half is already Perfect :-)
There is no other short cut to perfectionism. If you want to excel in the field of your interest or your current job you have to invest significant amount of effort into it.
The effort does not include those blank glares in the blackboard of your classroom or in the meeting room where the words just get deflected off you, that nod you did without knowing what did you Yes to, Also secretly hoping no one cross checks with you..
and all you hear is blah blah blah.. But the real investment your time.. Quality Time !
The Third P
Yes I write the cliché last but not the least
- The first one is a virtue, can be acquired
- Second one is a verb. An action which is totally under your control
- The third one is very interesting, It’s a trait which comes from within
You might say I am wrong, But stubborn ME will still say it. It is either black or white. You have it or you don’t. There are no shades of grey. Its called Perseverance.
Quoting Dale Carnegie " Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all "
Apply the P Cube Formula to achieve the P +S - Any guesses what is that ?
Happy Learning!
