3 Practical Ways To Make Money Online And Beat Inflation

You don’t need to do OF, sell feet pics, or scam people to make money online.

Let’s face it, inflation is rising faster than our annual earnings can keep up. $100,000 is the new middle class and one (or dual-income) family stream won’t cut it.

I felt this when I received my signing bonus and first paycheck in 2016 just out of college. When I called HR they pretty much laughed at me. Thanks for teaching me about taxes in school!

Anyway, in 2024 with over 4 billion people now on the internet using social media, you can use your smartphone and laptop to learn a new skill and create a new stream of mostly passive income in under a year.

Here are my 3 favorites.

1. Affiliate Marketing (My Favorite)

Have you ever been scrolling on social media and a creator recommends a product that you like, so you click their unique link and purchase it? Well, that creator just earned a commission passively. They don’t have to deal with inventory or you as a customer.

This is affiliate marketing — recommending products you know, use, love, and trust.

The pros:

• It takes less than two weeks to learn and get set up
• No experience required
• Can start with 0 followers
• 1–2 hours a day of your time to scale
• Limitless income-earning potential thanks to funnels and the sheer number of buyers on social media
• It’s fun: Do you love your pet and already share them on your Instagram? You can monetize with affiliate marketing.

The cons:

• Results aren’t guaranteed
• Not a get-rich-quick thing
• You have to post on social media daily for months and years. Requires a lifestyle change if you haven’t created content before. I detail this in my free guide.

Picture this. You work a 9–5 that you don’t love but it pays the bills and instead of watching 3 hours of Netflix at night, you create video and written content across IG, FB, TikTok, Medium, and Linkedin every day for a year. All of a sudden you have tens of thousands of followers, and email subscribers, and every day someone is purchasing a product you recommend, so you now have a new income stream. It’s magical.

2. Sell Digital Products

You can create a digital product, price them between $9–$99 to sell to your growing audience.

These can be PDF’s, Ebooks, or video tutorials. You can create a free canva account, use a free template, and get one written in a day.

Let’s say you enjoy cooking. You can write a short 5-page “Free Recipe Guide” that unpacks simple ‘make-it at-home’ recipes targeted at busy individuals who eat out too much and want to live a healthier lifestyle.

Let’s say you enjoy working out, you can create a 5–10 minute video training course demonstrating common exercises that people can do at home, in their free time, or even at the office without any equipment. You can use platforms like Skool or Kajabi to host your videos.

As your audience grows because you’re posting every day, you’ll eventually start getting sales. You can even give some away for free in exchange for a review or testimonial before making them paid. This can give you key insights to improve your digital products!

3. Create a Digital Course & Community

Courses are great because they have high profit margins and only need to be created once. From there, you can sell an infinite numer of times to your audience.

Let’s say you love gardening. You can create a course teaching people how to start gardening.

You can use a platform like Skool as this allows you to build a community of like minded people around your course. Skool also has a built in payment system so you can charge a monthly membership for an exclusive course and community.

Bonus:

If you don’t have followers, then you can gain followers in two ways. Paid advertising or organic content creation. I recommend starting with organic.

• Post 2–3 videos per day across Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok
• Post 3–5 times per day across X(Twitter), LinkedIn, and Medium.
• Engage with your audience, your Call To Action (CTA) should always be to follow you in the growth phase. Don’t try and sell right away because you need to earn their trust.
