3 practical things to do now to enhance Health & Safety!

3 very easy and simple things that every employee can do now, at this very moment, in their workplace, wherever it is, to enhance the health and safety of their own bodies and minds.

Taking care of your health and safety at work is essential for a productive and fulfilling career, as well to keep any organisation afloat. As an employee, there are simple things you can do to enhance your well-being and protect yourself and others from potential hazards in the workplace.?

Here are three easy things that I have identified that do not require any specialist skills, nor training that every employee could do to enhance their own health and safety at work, without supervision or input from their Health & Safety Officers/Advisors/Managers or Heads of Health & Safety:

One - Keep your workstation clean and organised: Clutter and disorganisation can lead to accidents and injuries. Therefore, keeping your workstation tidy and organised will no doubt ensure that all equipment and tools are stored in their proper place. Failure to this is of course prone to causing slips, trips, and falls – due to the increased trip hazards an untidy workplace presents.

Two - Take breaks and stretch: Sitting or standing in the same position for long periods can cause discomfort and fatigue or worse musculoskeletal injuries or disorders. Therefore, a simple thing as taking regular breaks and stretching your muscles to prevent injury and promote good circulation is proven to enhance employee health and safety.

Three - Speak up if you notice something unsafe: If you see something that could potentially cause harm, speak up. Report any hazards, near-misses, or accidents to your supervisor or safety representative immediately. I would like to believe that it is simply the right thing to do.?

What are you waiting for? Get on with it now! And enhance your own health and safety, as well as the safety of others around you. Thank you for reading, and let me know of what you think in the comments:
