The number one struggle I hear from job seekers when it comes to writing their resume is figuring out the best way to convey their accomplishments.?
It's not easy to write about yourself, to begin with, and resume writing is all about marketing your successes in a way that impresses hiring managers without sounding like you're bragging.
Easy right? Nope.
To help, I'm sharing 3 of my favorite frameworks for capturing and conveying accomplishments on a resume. These are the very frameworks I use when writing a client's resume.?
The WOW Factor Framework
Step 1: Identify Themes in Your Career
Reflect on your career and identify recurring themes. What have you consistently done to make companies better? For example, reducing hiring time, increasing sales, or improving customer satisfaction.
Step 2: Ask Yourself Key Questions
Where have I been first or best?
What is the #1 thing I achieved in each role?
What have I been publicly recognized or awarded for?
What major company successes have I contributed to?
Which of my achievements have the most impressive metrics?
Step 3: Craft Your Executive Summary
Begin with a powerful opening that highlights your personal brand and impact.
Include one or two WOW statements that answer the questions above. Keep each statement to one line.
Save the details for the job descriptions later in your resume.
Example Executive Summary:
"Healthcare executive who repeatedly reduced hiring time by 50% across multiple organizations and increased patient satisfaction rates 30%.

The Impact Quantifier Method
Step 1: Highlight Key Skills
Identify three high-priority hard skills required for the role you are applying for. List these skills prominently at the top of your resume, either above or below the summary.
Step 2: Quantify Your Accomplishments
Think beyond revenue generated and costs saved. Use metrics such as:
- Time frames (e.g., completed projects 20% ahead of schedule)
- Project sizes (e.g., managed projects worth $5M)
- Team sizes (e.g., led a team of 50)
- Comparisons (e.g., outperformed industry benchmarks by 10%)
- Deadlines met or exceeded

Step 3: Turn Duties into Achievements
Lead with action verbs and write in implied first person.
Be specific and avoid filler words.
Example Accomplishment Statements:
"Led a team of 50 to complete a $5M project 20% ahead of schedule."
"Outperformed industry benchmarks by 10% in quarterly sales growth."

The Narrative Builder Blueprint
Step 1: Narrate Your Career Progression
Present your work history in reverse chronological order.
Highlight promotions, lateral moves, and critical projects that show career progression.
Include milestones such as completing an MBA or obtaining certifications.
Step 2: Use the C.A.R. Format
Challenge: Describe the challenge you faced.
Action: Detail the actions you took.
Result: Share the result of your actions, using quantifiable metrics where possible.
Step 3: Align Your Story with the Job Description
Tailor your resume to match the job description, emphasizing relevant experiences and achievements.
?Incorporate keywords and industry-specific terms to optimize for ATS and human readers.
Example Career Narrative:
“Delivered 30% revenue increase within 6 months during an economic downturn by leading turnaround strategy, restructuring sales team, and launching new marketing campaign. Promoted to VP of Operations, leading 200 employees.”
?Use these frameworks to help you convey your accomplishments in a way that will hook hiring managers and get more interviews.
Forward this article to a job seeker you know who could benefit from these frameworks.
