3 New World Changing Technologies
As part of my role on the Forbes Technology Council, I get the chance to learn about new and exciting technologies. In order to share with you more of what I'm learning, I've decided to create articles about my recent findings. Feel free to add to the discussion in the comments below.
2. The second new technology is a safe shelter for refuges. About 30 million people per year are displaced by natural disasters. (Source: Institute for Economics) These innovative shelters from Better Shelter are made from recycled materials and are comprised of a galvanized steel frame and a thick rain-resistant tarp. These homes are being assembled in Ukraine as hospitals, in Rwanda at the base of volcanoes, and in India for flood victims. They are actually in partnership with IKEA and the homes cost about $365 USD. They can be shipped within hours of a disaster and are designed to last up to 10 years.?The shelters have a 17.5m2 steel frame foundation which can be installed by four people in a few hours and without the use of tools. With the capacity to shelter up to five persons, the interior usage can be adapted from its initial purpose as a temporary family accommodation into clinics, classrooms or as a centre for community activities.?Read more.

3. If this next new technology sounds cool it is because it is. It is called Action Audio and translates ball movement during the Australian Open to "3D audio" or binaural sounds. It helps those experiencing blindness or vision issues to enjoy the match. It picks up on ball-tracking data already being broadcasted by multiple cameras. It can even pick up on the type of shot, speed, and location. Almost 300 million people worldwide are restricted from enjoying live sport because of their blindness or low vision. It estimates more than 10,000 fans have already enjoyed the service and will expand to other sports in the future.?Read more.
I hope you've enjoyed learning about these three new technologies. I’m curious what you think about these new technologies and if you think you would use any of them. Feel free to drop your comments below or write to me at [email protected].?

2 年Loved the article. I will continue reading to learn more, but here are my initial thoughts. Numbered by the technology. 1. Do they know what is going to be tested after the liver rounds? 2. Is it hurricane rated? 3. Can this technology be applied to golf and other sports?
