There are many myths about public speaking that prevent people from becoming great speakers.?
These myths are false and can stop you from improving as a speaker. These myths can also prevent you from getting a job or promotion that requires public speaking.
I always see these myths in my work as a public speaking coach. They are widespread among people who have never spoken in front of an audience before and have no idea what to expect when they do.
This article debunks three of the most common myths:
- Public speaking is only for extroverts,
- You need to be born a gifted speaker,
- Public speaking is all about memorization.
The reality is that anyone can learn to be a great public speaker. It’s a skill that can be learned and practiced regardless of your personality type.?
And while some people may have a natural talent for public speaking, that’s not a prerequisite for becoming a great speaker.
