3 Most Important Skills Job Seekers Need

World is changing too fast around us. Jobs that were pretty much common few years ago have transformed with new focus, some jobs are no longer needed and a lot of new careers have been created.

Titles are no longer important, it is our ability to deliver results in a team environment with highest degree of complexity is essential to highlight performance.

My research tells that the following three will remain as “essential ingredients” for job seekers:

1.?????Knowledge

2.?????Skills

3.?????Experience

A nice combination of the above will continue as the key decisive factor for employers and hiring managers to hire talent.

Moreover, pandemic has added a brand new dimensions called “Work from Home Skills and ability to make remote decisions”.

Competition is all time high, it will only grow, and therefore the need to become more competitive and more effective is critical. Employers and recruiters are looking for talent based on not how experienced you are, but how skilled you are to solve their problems.

In such a challenging and competitive work environment, rethinking, re-strategizing and reskilling is needed to remain current and gainfully employed.

Here are 3 Most Important Skills Job Seekers Need:

1.?????Being Phygital

2.?????Networking

3.?????Numeracy

Being Phygital:

This is not about numbers, it’s about critical thinking, reflecting, problem-solving and data analysis. Given that business decisions are based on data, this skill is of high importance for job seekers.

Basic Numeracy is:

  • Budgeting
  • Interpreting numbers
  • Trend mapping

For job seekers, there is no other option but to keep upskilling and keep investing in learning.

Thanks a lot, dear HAMMAD SIDDIQUI for your insights. The one that is often either neglected or worse is applied in the wrong way is networking. In many cultures, this is not something people are comfortable with, yet often based on a biased idea of what networking truly is. Yet, this is a skill that is more and more required, when looking for a job, and also once you have joined an organization. Networking is helpful for more than when looking for a job. As you can see I'm passionate about changing the mindset about this skill and that is where I help many of my clients.
