The 3 most important skills every entrepreneur MUST develop

The 3 most important skills every entrepreneur MUST develop

Whether you’re a coach, speaker or trainer, these three skills can help you grow your business. Maybe your business is new or you’ve been at it for a while, but I’m here to share 3 key skills that will help you run a successful business.?

?

Marketing, sales and patience are crucial skills that every entrepreneur should learn to master, let’s talk about why…

Marketing

Marketing gives you the ability to pull in an audience and get them interested in your product, service, or course that you’re offering.?When you know how to attract the right people, build and tap into new audiences, and create a message that gets people feeling connected to your business, you know you are doing things right.?

?

You can have the best offer, the best team, and be great at what you do, but if people cannot see it and don’t know your brand then they’re going to buy from someone else. They will gravitate toward a business that is good at expressing their offers and showcasing the results of working with them.

?

If marketing is a bit choppy for you, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to do it all. BUT it’s worth investing time and money into.?

?

Now if you’re thinking, marketing is not my zone of genius, that’s okay, it’s still important. Even if you’re going to hire someone else to do it for you, you’ll want to have a basic understanding of it so you can know if it’s being done right. Trust me, I’ve hired the wrong person, and I’m glad I had a general understanding of how marketing worked. Marketing is a crucial part of your business and investing in the skills are crucial, so don’t just write it off.??

Sales

Now that we have the ability to attract and to get people interested, we want to make sure they’re actually going to buy. So, the next skill to develop is the ability to convert- which is my favorite.?

?

It’s directly linked to monetization. If you don’t know how to sell, it’s always going to be difficult to keep your business afloat. Maybe you’re making sales but it’s solely coming from referrals and it’s very easy to sell to them. What you really need is to be able to sell to complete strangers. You want to meet, get them interested and get them to make a commitment.??

?

It’s important to invest in your sales skills because the sales department is the oxygen of the business.?

?

I remember when I started out, I took a lot of sales courses and did a lot of sales role-playing with other people because I needed to improve my skills. I was really bad at it. That’s one reason why in a lot of our programs we create a space for people to sell to each other.?

?

It’s not something you can entirely learn from a book- you can learn frameworks, but the confidence takes practice. It comes with experience and that’s why you should practice as much as possible, to learn how to create a great sales conversation.?

?

I’m not a big believer of scripts, but I’m a big fan of frameworks because in sales you want to be in control of the conversation. With every single point you need to be able to lead the client to making a decision, whether it’s yes or no. You want to develop the ability to go through the process of having an organic conversation that’s flowing, while also knowing you are in a sales conversation.?

?

It is one of the most incredible skills that you can build and develop.

?

Patience- Business is a marathon not a sprint.

There are moments in business that will feel like a sprint, where you’re going fast, you’re building things, but the longevity of a business should be paced like a marathon.?

?

GteX has been running for 10 years and every year we add another piece. Every year I learn something new and become better. And of course, compared to what I would love to be, I’m not there yet, the goalpost is always moving.?

?

I remember at the beginning, I was frustrated for not getting the results that I wanted and not hitting my goals. I learned that all your goals are a direct result of the actions that you take, and honestly we only have control over our actions.

?

Feeling comfortable when a launch doesn’t work or with pacing yourself knowing some things take longer than others, is an indicator that you understand how running a business really feels. Sometimes you are not clear about your business and you’re in limbo, even struggling to make decisions, it’s all a part of it.?

?

Have confidence in taking actions, keep improving, learning, and investing in yourself and others around you, it will give you the positive results you want.?

?

Focus on the macro. You might have three months in a row that are not going the way that you want, but then you might have one month that makes more than you planned. You have to be patient and you will see how things connect.?

?

Patience is the number one skill, as long as you invest in yourself and always work to improve what you’re doing, your business will be successful.?

?

So, learn sales and marketing, be patient with it, and keep executing, it’s only a matter of time until something works.?

?

It’s that kind of spirit that I want you to have, because it can be challenging. During moments where I’m a bit frantic or discontent about the results I got, I remind myself good things take time and if I am always working in the right direction everything will be alright.?

Thanks for sharing these 3 important tips Simone Vincenzi. I'm constantly learning and practising these 3 skills, and my takeaway from this is that sales is about having a conversation in which you encourage a prospect to see the value of your offer. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

And in some ways the greatest of these is patience Simone Vincenzi ! Certainly held with hanging on in there with the other two as well as resilience ofcourse.

Thanks Simone Vincenzi As you say, it’s important to market and speak to people, especially complete strangers. Jim Rohn said speak to one new person every day as a strategy for marketing your business. Plus account to other team members to your marketing actions.
