3 MAIN PLAYERS TO CONSIDER WHILE BUILDING PERSONAL BRAND ONLINE

To build your Personal Brand online you should take into considerations 3 main players: Your Customers/audience, Yourself and Platforms.

Start with your Brand Audit, (feel free to download my Free Brand Audit from my Featured Section) ask yourself how people perceive you now. The second question is where you want to be, how you want to be known. The third question is who should you know. The next question - how you are going to reach to your ideal customers. After you have clear answers to these questions, you can start creating content strategy.

In this case, consider 3 main factors:

1. WHERE IS YOUR IDEAL CUSTOMER?

Follow your ideal customers. They can be on several platforms, so follow them to those platforms, just keep in mind your ideal customers' motivation can be vary while they are interacting on various platforms, so try to understand their motivations, needs, pain points and give free recommendations, position yourself as an Expert in the area.

2. KNOW YOURSLEF. WHICH RESOURCES DO YOU HAVE FOR CONTENT CREATION?

Set goal for each platform and analyze your resources. Are you going to create content by yourself or with help of other people? Which resources (skills, time and money) do you have to create content?

Of course, you can create multimedia content - the best solution. You can choose the topic and about it upload video on YouTube, write blog on your website and link to that video, share blog on Medium (Medium allows to share blog from your website).

Later edit the same blog and share on Quora (find the appropriate question and write answer), choose the best phrases form the blog and share on Twitter, create a PPT and upload on SlideShare, convert video into audio and upload as a podcast on SoundCloud or edit again that blog, add some image and post on LinkedIn, use the same image as a pin for Pinterest, create infographic and share on Instagram and you can do many other things, but ... thing is a time. Be honest with yourself whether you have time for it. If you have a team, you can do even more.

If you are doing everything by yourself, you should prioritize. Choose 2-3 platforms and make most of them. If you succeed at one platform, this will help you when you start using another one. Leverage the power of Social Proof.

3. KNOW PLATFROM’S CONTEXT – KEEP IN MIND THAT WE HAVE 2 AUDIENCES: PEOPLE AND ALGORITHMS.

Each platform is different. Of course, nobody knows exactly how the algorithm works, but anyway you can learn from official blogs, platform's experts and test what works for you.

Even if you have an attractive content, consistency is a key. Engage with other users, respect each platforms' community rules. Be helpful creatively, create your signature communication style. Remember brand is more about your ideal customers not just about you.
