That 3 Magical Words: "I" ____ "You"

Let's dive right into a memorable incident from just a few months ago. I was in the midst of a quarterly meeting with one of our brilliant Software Engineers, Roshan. Joining us was his Project Manager, Tejas, & we were deep in discussion about Roshan's progress, setbacks, & his path forward. Despite his commendable performance, there was something amiss—Roshan seemed undeniably exhausted. Tejas & I couldn't help but sense Roshan's demotivation. Despite his exceptional work, he felt unappreciated. That's when Tejas, displaying remarkable leadership, took the reins of the meeting. He spoke directly to Roshan, acknowledging the client's satisfaction with his work. However, there was still a missing piece.

Then came a sentence that would work wonders, something so simple yet incredibly powerful: "I appreciate you. Your dedication to this project is truly commendable. We couldn't have asked for a better team member." Roshan looked up, his tired eyes suddenly filled with a renewed spark. He smiled & replied, "Thank you, that means a lot." In that brief exchange, something magical happened. Roshan's fatigue seemed to dissipate, replaced by a newfound energy & motivation. It was as though those three words had injected a surge of enthusiasm into his veins. He went back to work with renewed vigor & determination.

Now, the question we all need to ask ourselves is, "Have we genuinely said these words enough?" In the hustle & bustle of our daily work lives, it's easy to get caught up in the chaos & forget to express our appreciation for our colleagues' efforts.

Imagine the difference we could make if we made it a habit to acknowledge &appreciate the hard work of those around us. It's not just about words; it's about recognizing the value that each team member brings to the table. It's about fostering a culture of appreciation & positivity that can transform our workplaces.

So, let's take a moment today to reflect on the power of "I appreciate you." Think about the Roshans in your organization, the unsung heroes who give their all. Take the time to express your genuine appreciation, & watch the magic unfold. Let's make it a habit to use these three words more often. Let's create a workplace where appreciation is not just a formality but a genuine expression of gratitude.

After all, it's the Roshans of our organizations who make the difference, & a little appreciation can go a long way in fueling their passion.
