3 Lessons Learned From My Day With The Founder Of Hobby Lobby

3 Lessons Learned From My Day With The Founder Of Hobby Lobby

Recently, I had a chance to be in a room with David Green, founder of Hobby Lobby.

It was pretty impactful.

Here are a few nuggets I am still thinking about:

1: Humor.

David Green runs a serious business at $7 billion!!

But he doesn’t always take himself seriously.

He is very funny, makes fun of himself, and jokes around.

How can we bring more humor into our lives?

2: Humility.

David Green has taken his business from 3 employees to 45,000 employees!!

Yet he rarely says ‘I’. He gives credit to his team, his family, and most of all, God.

How can we bring more humility into our lives?

3: Generosity.

This was the biggest eye-opener for me.

Hobby Lobby gives away 50% of their profits!!

The Green family has a monthly meeting about how they want to give away their family money.

Some see generosity as a divestment (money is leaving your hands), but they see it as an investment (money going into the hands of others and the Kingdom.)

How can we bring more generosity into our lives?

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in that room and want to help spread that good news to others!
