As I'm writing this in the Dining Room, breakfast is being prepared.
And a LinkedIn DM popped up.
It's cloudy and it's 63 degrees in New York.
Going to talk about 3 lessons I learned in August.
------------------------------
A lot of changes happened this month.
Some small. Some big ones.
The article you are reading right now?
Yes, the format changed.
And so has my profile.
Here are 3 lessons I learned in August:
Lesson #1: Listen to your connections to make a connection.
Last Sunday, I got feedback.
From a helpful 1st degree connection.
She said in a DM:
"And I don't know if I'm allowed to give feedback but your "Tuesday" notes just like a notes... No clear life lessons."
She's right.
I didn't give life lessons last week in an article and went off-track.
Listen to your connections.
They connected with you for a reason.

Lesson #2: Every disappointment is another opportunity.
This advice last Friday is from a co-worker who is old enough to be my mother.
Have you ever experienced disappointment?
I did.
Last week's article had these stats:
What Changed On Tuesday And Why It's Important: 21 reactions and 33 comments.
It hurts.
The previous articles had better stats.
This is an opportunity for you to change things in the next month.
Lesson #3: Change people's lives by sharing your life.
You may have noticed personal posts.
I haven't done a good job back then.
Now, it's important to do so.
Donated blood this month and felt proud of saving lives.
Share:
- Your stories
- Your victories
- Your defeats
- Your lessons
When you share with care, people want to know who you are.
Bonus Lesson: Drink some water.
This was from a 43-year-old man who mentioned people don't drink much water.
Do what you can and make your moment.

1 年What I learnt in August is that the cortisol running through your body after a triggering event theoretically lasts for 90 seconds. Any longer and you’re pressing repeat on that story in your head. Feel the feeling and drop the story. Great question, Craig Davis!
