December 20th, 2024
Mom is working on breakfast.
Baby bro is waiting for the bus to come.
It's cloudy outside — 39 degrees here in New York.
Let's talk about 3 lessons in December.
------------------------------
There is one thing you may not talk about often.
The lessons you learned for the month.
There are different types of lessons:
1. What you accomplished (for yourself)
2. What people taught or said to you (for your growth)
3. What you picked up (from your mistakes or your journey)
There are other lessons out there.
Look for what is important to you.
For December, here are 3 lessons:
1. Winning an interview after a third attempt.
Have you ever received a third chance?
It happened last Thursday.
The interview was set at 11am.
This was for a temp role at a hotel.
And the interviewer decided to do something different.
He did this.
He had a meeting and delayed the interview from 11am to 11:30am.
This gave me some time to review my resume and notes.
When we had the interview, this happened.
He said he knows me.

He doesn't want me to go through this a third time.
It's like getting a chance card in the game Monopoly.
Advance to Go. Collect $200 (two hundred dollars).
So we went to HR.
And the HR door closed.
When it's closed, it's closed.
The interviewer told me HR would call.
And HR did call this past Monday.
Keep going.
When people know you well, opportunities open.
2. "Keep showing up, even though it looks difficult."
This is what I learned on Sunday, December 8th.
Showing up is a daily skill.
Things will get harder.
Keep doing the work, even if you see less progress than before.
The payoff will speak to your resilience.
3. Every mistake helps you grow from your past mistakes.
You may not realize this.
You are a collection of growth from your experiences.
Being 1% better helps the people around you be better.
It starts with challenging yourself to do more.
The path to success starts with you.
See you in the next one!
Talk soon,
Craig
