Sharon lost her sister last week whilst driven by grief she had to stay strong to take on the role of mother to her sisters 3 kids. Social services asked for our help with so much closed during lockdown and without Internet or a smartphone, We Care the only frontline services able to help on every level.
Frank was released from hospital in East London the only place they could find to house him was Catford in South East London after almost 3 weeks we got a call from social services to say they had an elderly client in our area with No food, No gas or electric and No phone credit , why did it take them so long to seek our help when clearly this man needed support and help from his first day out of hospital? these just two examples of people in crisis We Care Food Bank been asked to help over past few days , and whilst these organisations are paid to help people in crisis we get NO Government or Council funds and need to depend on kindness of strangers and our GoFundMe https://gf.me/u/x8m3fw . Its not all bad, we have joined up with the young peoples charity Centre Point to create a support and job training scheme for 16-24-year-olds looking for a career in the community sector at a time getting a career and the job and life security it brings is so hard to find. Since We Care was launched as the UK's largest independent food bank and advice and support hub in Lewisham in 2014, we have always ensured that, during school holidays and Christmas, children and the hungry families they come from do not have to worry about putting food on the table this coming Christmas, we truly need your help to feed the new wave of people and pets from across London who are in crisis and will be coming through our doors this winter at Kath's Place, 50 Friendly Street, Deptford SE8 4DR.
Can you imagine losing up to 30% of your monthly income? That is the reality for so many people in the present crisis. Rents are so high in our area that people in work do not have enough cash to pay the rent and, probably for the first time in their lives, are having to trade a visit to their local coffee shop for a visit to the We Care Food Bank and Food Pantry for help, advice, support and solidarity. Embarrased and even ashamed, but even more desperate and distraught that their kids are going hungry, mums tell us that they can go days without food, and, on average, it takes people at least a week of going hungry before they finally come through our doors and ask for help. We really do need your donation this Christmas GoFundMe https://gf.me/u/x8m3fw . We would also ask that you buy your Christmas gifts from our Community Hub at Kath's Place Deptford or buy ethical gifts , fashion and books from our website www.kathduncan-equality-civilrights-network.co.uk, Since We Care was launched as the UK's largest independent food bank and advice and support hub in Lewisham in 2014, we have always ensured that, during school holidays and Christmas, children and the hungry families they come from do not have to worry about putting food on the table. This half term, however, and over this coming Christmas, we truly need your help to feed the new wave of people and pets from across London who are in crisis and will be coming through our doors this winter at Kath's Place, 50 Friendly Street, Deptford SE8 4DR.
