3 important trends we didn’t talk about @ESOMAR Congress but should have…#WOW

Don’t take me wrong, I did enjoy the Congress this year, as much as any other ESOMAR event. However, it is a time we acknowledge that research became more tech-savvy and we need to embrace the technology. This year’s Congress showed how we have advanced in tactics and methods we use in consumer research. Also, ESOMAR’s #YES initiative for young researchers is a great way to engage Millennials. But why did we talk so little about the new challenges and opportunities presented by new technologies? Here is what we should have talked about:

  1. Neuroscience. The uses of neuroscience go beyond the lab and the insights they provide in combination with traditional research are limitless.
  2. Cross-analysis. Why don't we talk about using multiple technologies and methodologies for better results? Budget is no longer an issue, while cross analysis that becomes available with the use of multiple tools adds credibility to our research.
  3. Collaborations & Partnerships. Great things are accomplished together. I believe that we should have more interaction between industry player and I am not talking just about clients and agencies. It would be great to see more cases presented, where multiple vendors come together to deliver truly remarkable insights.

At the Congress, I have met many people, who share this vision. It is exciting to see our industry change and grow, I hope soon we will see these ideas in action.

MR industry looks old-style at Esoma congresses I visited. MR is not completed industry, it's only one chained in decision making ecosystem. A small part of researchers understand that.
