This message is for those of US who need this reminder:
Ever feel like everyone else has this growth mindset thing nailed, while you're left struggling to keep up? It can seem like everyone else is effortlessly succeeding while you’re grappling with lost motivation and feeling like you’re not thriving. But here’s the truth: YOU'RE not alone, and the idea that everyone else is effortlessly achieving their goals is NOT accurate.
I’ve been there too—feeling like I’m the only one struggling, like I should have it all together. But the reality is, even the MOST successful people NEED daily inspiration and motivation. We all have our moments of doubt.
So let’s start with this: Give yourself GRACE. You don’t need to be perfect or have it all figured out. Growth is a process, not a race.
2. Here’s a small but powerful mind hack: Start your day with a simple win: do a small task. It can be something as straightforward as making your bed. This small act resets your mind, signaling that you’re ready to take on the day. The mind is powerful and staying present is hard, but these little rituals can make a big difference.
3. Another crucial step is to define your happiness. Take a moment to ask yourself what would really truly make you happy, and WRITE it down.
I did this a couple of years ago and found it incredibly empowering. I bought a tiny blue book—because I’m a kid at heart—and jotted down ten things that would make me happy. Simple things like “6. Become an Author,” “8. Visit Madagascar,” “9. Earn my Ph.D. by 55.” Seeing these dreams on paper, right there beside my bed, is a daily reminder of what I’m working toward.
When I wake up, I look at that list, process it in my mind, and then make my bed—even before I get my coffee! In the past, I’d head for coffee first with the intention of making my bed afterward, but that often didn’t happen. Now, integrating these two small rituals has become a powerful part of my routine, and they’re incredibly empowering. I’ve even had to update the list because I’ve achieved so many of those original goals. You can too—there’s real power in this practice.
Remember, growth isn’t about having a perfect life. It’s about embracing the journey, especially when it’s tough. The real strength of a growth mindset lies in recognizing that progress happens in those small, often overlooked steps. It’s okay to struggle; it’s okay to feel like you’re not keeping up. Growth is messy, nonlinear, and uniquely yours.
It’s not about perfection; it’s about persistence, resilience, and the courage to keep going, even when the world feels like it’s moving too fast.
