3 Genius Foods That Are Incredible for Your Brain, Backed by Science

The brain is 2% of the body's weight but requires 20% of its energy through food.

Your brain takes a beating day in day out. Burnout among financial advisors is?becoming more and more of an issue, resulting in poor performance, months off sick and billions in lost revenue.?

Not only do certain foods have the power to boost your overall physical health, but they can also impact your brain in very meaningful ways.

If you want to stop staring at your laptop procrastinating, take note.?

Today, I’m going to share three brain foods, backed by science, that can improve your brain health.?

You say “tomato”, I say “tomato”.

There is no getting away from how healthy tomatoes are, with the Mediterranean diet still seen as one of the healthiest diets in the world for longevity.??

You can eat them raw in a salad, chuck them in a bolognese, or fry them with a poached egg for breakfast.?

Evidence suggests, the consumption of them can impact your brain in the following ways:

“the evidence shows that lycopene, a powerful antioxidant found in?tomatoes, helps protect against free radical damage to cells that occurs during the development of?dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s.

While you might not want to bite into a tomato as if it were an apple, adding it into your diet is not only good for your body but for your brain too.?

Contender number 2….

This Brain Shaped Nut

It’s crazy! The one nut that has been linked to improved brain function, actually looks like a brain.?

The walnut.

Walnuts have been shown to improve both heart and brain health. Read more here Harvard Health:

A 2015 study from UCLA found that people who eat walnuts improve their cognitive function. Walnuts contain a type of omega-3 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Diets rich in ALA and other omega-3 fatty have been linked to lower blood pressure and cleaner arteries. That’s good for both the heart and brain.”

Adding walnuts into your diet is easy. They are a perfect snack to take to work, or if you eat cereal for breakfast, add them alongside some blueberries to have an abundance of genius foods.

Last and not least...

Most of you will have heard the benefits of turmeric but mainly for reducing inflammation in your body and joints.

Recently, there has been a boom of turmeric tablets onto the market for this reason, but how are they healthy for the brain.?

Turmeric is both?an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory.?It has been shown to impact the brain by?benefiting memory and helping new brain cells grow.?

“Curcumin (active ingredient in turmeric) boosts brain-derived neurotrophic factor, a type of growth hormone that helps brain cells grow.

You can add turmeric to your diet easily, whether it’s in your evening curry, a few pinches in your scrambled egg or even incorporating it into a smoothie.?

No matter how you choose to incorporate it into your meals, turmeric is a genius spice with powerful cognitive benefits that you should incorporate into your diet.

Final Thoughts

There are many ways to improve your brain health, through diet. With studies blaming our poor western diets for the rise in Alzheimer’s, cancers, diabetes and heart disease, it is important to eat a variety of foods that are both healthy for the body and brain.?

While no individual food can be singled out as a miracle worker, the collective effort of many healthy brain foods can aid mental focus and help keep that brain of yours in top shape.

CEO/founder Thrive State.

Ex-SAS Trainer - I had the pleasure to work with the special forces for 2 years helping elite soldiers overcome catastrophic injuries. Often rehabbing them back to full fitness so they can return to duty and be redeployed.

Specialist NHS Physiotherapist - I then went on to work in the NHS for 6 years working within traumatic brain injuries, major trauma and a specialist hand therapy unit for people after suffering life changing injuries to the hand, elbow and shoulder.

These were both incredible experiences and they have made me who I am today but I always felt that I could achieve more and help more people.

Ever since working with the special forces, I have been fascinated by how they overcome adversity, the mindset they possessed, what made them different and how I could use this to help people in the corporate world to transform their health and their lives.

Thrive State was born - I use my knowledge of the human mind to shift viewpoints, improve self-image and help build a strong foundation BEFORE addressing diet and exercise.

Thrive State is a clean and effective system that helps you thrive in health, life, and business by achieving a clean conscious state of mind, body and spirit
