#3 Frustrations Why Mere Actions Don't Guarantee Success

Don't Success Require Action(s)?

It is common knowledge that nothing can be achieved without Action — i.e. Goal-directed positive and deliberate steps.

Most times, in our quest for accomplishments, the first instinct is to rush to do something(s) or take some action.

In my experience with counselling and coaching, I have realized that action(s) are often over-rated compared to the background factor that makes actions effective.

I reached this conclusion by observing how two individuals can claim to have taken the exact same set of actions towards similar goals and yet achieve two different results, often in the opposite direction!

I have listened to and watched many individuals struggle to realize their dreams of owning and running a successful business, leading a peaceful family life, or achieving academic excellence.

I must confess I have also had my own frustrations too.

For Most Persons, These Frustrations Show Up in Three Ways

  • First, when the steps that are taken do not lead to the desired results;
  • Then, even with results, one cannot confirm categorically that the results are the product of optimally following the required rules of engagement. As a matter of conscience, there is the internal struggle of having cut some corners or not done everything in the expected order.
  • Lastly, inconsistency in the performance of the actions required for success.

This dilemma gives us room to subject?Actions?to proper scrutiny before they can be recommended for the pursuit of success.

King Solomon and Apostle Paul captured it most beautifully —?Zeal is no good without knowledge, and haste to do often leads to mistakes?(Proverbs 19:2; Romans 10:3).
