Entrepreneurs are not defined by definition alone. Entrepreneurs have characteristics that separate them from the average person. For example, entrepreneurs face and conquer fears to succeed.
The one characteristic that has always fascinated me was “risk-taking.†To take risks of any kind, you must be brave.
Some perceive bravery as being fearless.
So does this mean that entrepreneurs have no fears?
No!
3 Fears Entrepreneurs Face And Conquer To Succeed
Fear is the obstacle many potential entrepreneurs never get past.
In fact, three specific fears must be overcome to reach our entrepreneurial dreams.
FEAR OF REJECTION
In the infancy stages, not everyone will believe in the potential of your venture. In fact, many will flat out slam the door in your face.
Therefore, your vision statement must be a direct reflection of what you seek to accomplish. Otherwise, rejection will deter you in the search for your ultimate prize.
FEAR OF FAILURE
Some people invest countless amounts of time into the dreams only to fall short. But as the saying goes “Minor setbacks are the foundation for major comebacks.â€
You cannot be afraid to fail. It happens.
Virgin CEO Richard Branson says “Business opportunities are like buses. There’s always another one coming.â€
Success in business is not always immediate. Don’t get discouraged. Stay the course.
FEAR OF CHANGE
Wait a minute!
How are entrepreneurs afraid of change? Isn’t change the reason they became entrepreneurs?
Entrepreneurs can deal with the changes they can control. It’s the changes they CAN’T control that frighten them.
Unforeseen changes mean less time for activities unrelated to business and loved ones.
While they are sacrifices for the greater good, entrepreneurs don’t want to give those activities up.
Therefore, entrepreneurs must learn to be flexible early on.
Spontaneity is a part of the process, and versatility a the key to handling it.
A business partner recently told me not to allow fear hold me back from seeking success. Her success on many levels is proof that in spite of fear, she didn’t allow it to stop her from reaching her goal.
Neither will I.
Neither should you.
