3 Essential Steps To Prepare For AI-Generated Email Summaries
We’re diving into a topic that is set to revolutionize how we email marketers communicate with our customers. Platforms like Gemini and Apple are rolling out AI-generated email summaries. Today, we’re sharing three essential steps to ensure you make the most of them.
Welcome to the Email Mavens LinkedIn Newsletter, the place for winery owners and marketing pros who want to sell more wine online by sending better marketing emails.
What are AI-Generated Summaries? And why do they matter?
Imagine this: Your customers receive dozens, maybe hundreds, of emails daily. AI-generated summaries use advanced algorithms to scan emails, highlighting the most important information. This saves your customers time and ensures that your key messages get noticed. AI-generated email summaries are efficient, time-saving, and give you the key information.
Gemini and Apple are leading the charge with this technology, making it crucial for your winery to adapt and stay ahead of the curve. Now we can’t control technology really. However, we do have control of the content we put in our winery’s email campaigns.
To harness the upside of AI-generated email summarization, we must optimize our email content. Clear and concise emails are key to ensuring that AI can summarize your messages effectively.
Let’s compare the two emails shown below: The first is vague and cluttered, while the second is clear and organized.
Which one do you think AI will summarize better?
Hint: The answer is number 2 on the right.
NAIL THE COPY CORE:
The good news friends, is that you only need to pay attention to four parts of your email content to win. At Email Mavens, we call them the Copy Core: your subject line, preview text, headline, and call to action.
When you nail the Copy Core, you not only make it easier for your customer to take action, but you also make it easier for AI to summarize your email in an effective way so that your customers can actually see and engage with your hard-built marketing emails.

For the next month, I want you to run every email campaign you create through this simple assessment: Does the subject line, preview text, headline, and call to action I have chosen make it easy and compelling for my customer to act?
If you can’t easily decide what to do with the information in these four copy elements, then neither can AI.
Everything on top of that is gravy, so optimize your Copy Core and beat the machines!
ONE MORE BONUS CONSIDERATION:
This was brought to my attention by the legendary Ed Fuchu of Tank Garage fame.
He brought up on a LinkedIn thread that a lot of wineries, and honestly big brands in general, only use images in their email marketing campaigns. That means they’re actually embedding the copy of their email into an image, building your email marketing campaign like a poster, and then uploading it to your email service provider as a giant PNG or JPEG. This will limit your ability to take advantage of AI-generated summarization. And who knows how these platforms are going to handle alt text? It may finally be time to move away from image-only emails, which are fraught with other issues like accessibility, load speed, and spam triggers.
So join me in beating the machines and eradicating image-only emails, moving forward into a brighter future!
Pretty motivating huh.
If you loved this content, it would mean the world to us if you would share this with your winery business bestie. Shoot, any kind of email marketing business bestie, because everything that I’ve shared with you today matters regardless of the industry that you are sending emails for.
