According to?sources familiar with the unfolding incident, a worker was on an upper floor of the hospital which remains under construction. Part of the wall — or scaffolding — collapsed, possibly impaling the worker. Trauma Hawk has been called to transport the worker from Boca Raton Regional to the closest ?trauma center in Delray Beach. Boca Raton Regional Hospital can not handle trauma cases — it is not a trauma center.
City building inspectors are working to determine exactly how the wall collapsed, LaSalle said, and at the time of the incident, firefighters were at the hospital conducting a walkthrough, familiarizing themselves with exits and fire control equipment in new parts of the hospital.? The Delray Beach Fire Rescue also had crews on standby Tuesday morning.
