3 Business Growth Traps (and How to Avoid Them)
Business is full of unpredictable twists and turns. Market crashes, changing customer tastes, and economic dips are just a few challenges we all face.
But here’s the good news: the things you can control often make or break your success.
After building multiple seven-figure businesses, I realized that some of the most popular growth strategies are actually traps in disguise.
Here are the three things I wish someone had told me sooner:
?? #1: The Freebie Funnel Trap
Early on, I thought low-ticket offers and freebie giveaways were the perfect way to quickly grow a customer base. But here’s the catch: these tactics often attract people who are more interested in getting a deal than in the true value of your offerings. This led to a lot of low-quality leads, wasted resources, and little long-term benefit. The lesson: Focus on attracting customers who see the real value in what you offer, not just those looking for a deal.
?? #2: The Paid Advertising Crutch
While paid advertising can boost growth, leaning too heavily on it can create a shaky foundation. I’ve shared before how shifting my focus from paid ads to organic marketing transformed my business. Sure, organic growth takes longer, but it attracts more committed customers and builds deeper brand loyalty. In the end, this strategy led to a stronger, more sustainable business.

?? #3: Misalignment with Your Mission
The businesses that truly thrive aren’t the ones chasing every dollar, they’re the ones that stay true to their core mission. When your growth strategies align with your values, every decision supports your long-term goals. This alignment helps attract the right customers, partners, and opportunities, ensuring that your business grows in a way that’s both profitable and fulfilling.
The strategy: Make sure your growth tactics are in sync with your business mission.
I know how easy it is to get caught up in the hustle and lose sight of what really matters. That’s why I’ve created this newsletter to share the lessons I’ve learned and help you build a business that’s not just successful, but also deeply aligned with your values.
