3 Benefits of Attending Business Events

Attending a business event whether it is a networking event, workshop, lunch and learn, or conference can literally change your business overnight.?There is nothing that can speed up the know, like, and trust factor in business faster than attending events. The main reason is that the attendees all have something in common. They are business owners and entrepreneurs who decided to show up, meet new people, and position themselves in a learning environment which indicates they are growth-oriented.?


Attending business events has been a game?changer?for me as it pertains to growing my business. At business events whether in-person or virtual, I have always founds ways to maximize my attendance and get the most out of the time and money spent to be in the room. My thought process was simply that attending events was a great way to build my network and market my business.


The fact is attending business meetings of any kind typically provides learning?opportunities that you simply can't find anywhere else, and for a fraction of the cost of most other business development strategies.?

Here are 3 benefits of attending business events.

  1. Connections

Attending events allows you to connect?with people you otherwise would never meet. Being in an environment that allows you to converse with new people from diverse backgrounds is a way of building relationships.?One of the keys to a solid foundation in business is building strong relationships. One of the key benefits is attending events that allow time for socialization, networking, and mingling which is a great way to build your network. There is some truth to the saying, "Your network is your net worth."


2. Communicating Your Message

Attending business events allows you the opportunity to practice your elevator pitch and communicate the value you bring to the table.?Being able to communicate your message builds confidence every time you do it. When you are able to communicate a clear and concise answer to the most asked question, "What do you do?" -- you rise to the creme of the crop. Any opportunity to give your elevator pitch or share with others your unique value is golden in the business world.


3. Cash flow capability

The result of making positive connections is that you will likely meet potential clients or referral partners that can lead to cash flow capabilities. Once you have met a new connection and you communicate to them what you do, and whom you help, you are positioning yourself for warm leads and referrals. Word-of-mouth advertising is the oldest form of marketing and it only happens when people know who you are and are able to recommend you to others. Remember, when you get referrals it is a warm lead. Your responsibility is to convert that warm lead into a paying customer/client. The conversion of the warm lead results in cash for your bottom line.


As you can see, there are several solid benefits to attending business events outlined above. Therefore, my advice is to get pumped up and excited when you are invited or notified of business events. Allocate money in your budget to attend business events. Take advantage of events and make them work for you. Maximize each opportunity by having a game plan for what you want to get out of the event. And by all means, research and investigate the event producers, speakers, topics covered, and opportunities for networking. It's likely you will find great opportunities to meet new people, expand your network and possibly generate new referral partners and in turn, make more money for your small business.
