3 Benefits of Alternate Delivery for Retailers

The e-commerce boom has granted us access to a countless number of goods and services from the comfort of our own homes –and the ability to have those items delivered directly to our front doors. Front door delivery is a dream come true, so long as we are at the front door when our delivery arrives. In the event that a buyer is not home, a carrier must then return at a later date to attempt to deliver the package again. After reaching the specific limit for delivery attempts the item is then dropped off at a hub. This leaves the consumer with the burden of picking up their items from a hub which may be geographically challenging and may include taking time off work to accommodate the open hours of the hub. Thus, effectively eliminating the convenience of ordering front door delivery.

By integrating a package tracking software not only can you alleviate consumer pains in managing your deliveries, but you can also drive traffic to your business and alleviate the pressure on your customer service desk.

Increase Customer Satisfaction

The most important aspect of running a successful business starts with the customer. As a retailer if you offer products or services that most others can’t, you’re giving yourself a serious competitive advantage. Integrating the proper logistics software that enables an alternate location pick-up option is that competitive advantage. By integrating a package tracking software, you can ensure that if an individual is not home when their packages arrives, opposed to returning to the hub, the driver has the ability to drop off the package at an alternative location (i.e. nearby brick and mortar location of the retailer). This in turn saves a buyer the effort of having to drive out to a hub to retrieve his/her package, and instead directs the package to the nearest outlet store for pick-up, improving your relationship with your customers.

Customer Service Desk

Aside from the time you’re saving for your customers, a package tracking software also provides full visibility over shipments. This includes a customer portal which broadcasts the current location of the item they’ve ordered, who’s hands it’s in, and when it will arrive. This takes pressure off your customer service desk when customers call in looking for their package. By inputting the order number online your customers can see for themselves where their item is, and when it will arrive so they can arrange their schedules accordingly.

Increase Store Traffic

Finally, one of the largest benefits of leveraging a package tracking software as a retailer lies in driving traffic to your stores! What a concept. Not only are your customers happy that they don’t have to travel as far to receive their items, and you reduce the pressure on your customer service desk, but in doing so customers now have a reason to visit a physical retail location which may encourage further sales for your chain.
