3 AI Books To Start The AI Journey
Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics are fascinating yet still quite complicated topics. Where to start with them? From what angles to study them? What options are they already giving us today?
I was asking myself exactly that and read 3 books that took me on this AI-thinking journey from 3 different observation standpoints. Highly recommended reading list!
1- The Globotics Upheaval: Globalisation, Robotics & The Future of Work by Richard Baldwin (January 2019). Now this is a good start to understand the history of past economic disruptions due to big technological advancements; and to compare those with today’s extremely fast transformation enabled by AI. The writer may have some pessimistic views about how the world will adapt to it, and yet offers food for thought for getting the economy in gear.
2- The AI Advantage: How to Put the Artificial Intelligence Revolution to Work by Thomas H, Davenport (November 2018). This one takes a step down and links business strategy to thoughts on implementation best practice. It gives you the right breadth of opportunities that the different kinds of automation provide and shares the critical questions you should ask yourself if you want to embed AI within your business. There are no silver bullets, and preparations should start now!
3- Artificial Intelligence in Practice: How 50 Successful Companies Used AI and Machine Learning to Solve Problems by Bernard Marr (April 2019). The finishing touch is a portfolio of practical and short case studies that give specific solutions found to solve specific problems in specific companies. The concise and effective structure of the stories gives a tangible and transferable view to the whole AI shebang.
