3 Actions to Take NOW to Double Your Sales

Do you ever avoid the very thing you know will make you money in your business? You aren’t alone. A lot of people avoid sales.

Maybe you think:

I’m going to fail.?

I’ll look like an idiot.?

I’m no good at this.

That’s just your brain, doing what brains do… trying to keep you safe.

But the truth is, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain from tackling those money-generating activities on your to-do list.??

I know it. And you know it.?

“It’s not your fault, but it IS your problem,” as the recent Look What She Built podcast guest Erin Marcus put it. (If you haven’t listened to her episode, you should go do that now. LINK)

It’s your job to say “thanks, but no thanks” to those dramatic thoughts and DO the thing anyway.

But once you’ve resigned yourself to jump in and do the hard thing, what are the things you should be DOING to help you reach your sales goals?

I’m glad you asked…

Understand your Ideal Customer or Client.

The more time you spend getting clear on who you help, the better you can speak their language. (See this newsletter on DiSC profiles)

Spend some time daydreaming about who you’d most like to work with. How old are they? Are they married? Parents? Professionals? How much money do they make in a year??

Then get even more specific…?

Give them a name. Think about what problems they’re likely facing? What objections might they have to an offer like yours??

The more you can get into their heads, the better you’ll be able to relate to them and build relationships with them that can ultimately lead to a sale.

Grow your network.?

Consider this statistic:

92% of buyers trust product/service referrals from those they know. (Nielsen)

Never underestimate the power of a well-connected raging super fan.?

It doesn’t really matter how you get yourself out there to meet new people. Go to networking events, talk to the other parents at the PTA meeting, or just become a friendly face on social media.

But if you want to improve your sales, you’ve got to actively take steps to grow your network.?

You never know where your next sale is going to come from, but there’s a strong chance it will be from a referral!

Set aside time for prospecting.

Prospecting is the process of identifying qualified sales leads. In layman’s terms, you reach out to a bunch of people to see if they might be interested in your offer.?

Reaching out to people leads to more sales calls. And sales calls lead to money. So start with reaching out to people and start growing your network. You never know who will need your help.?

Decide how many people you’ll reach out to every day and hold yourself accountable for reaching that number.

If you only spend 30 minutes a day getting in touch with potential leads on LinkedIn, you can make connections with hundreds of people a week!?

You’ll hear a LOT of no’s, and that’s OK. It’s the YES’s that can change your business and, ultimately, your life.

Are you saying I have to actually DO something? I was just hoping to meditate and recite positive affirmations and magically manifest more sales... Darn it!
