2nd Inning at Business School!

2nd Inning at Business School!

After my MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business , I did not imagine myself joining another B school. And yet just 3 years after my graduation I joined Masters' Union ! Only this time I joined not as a student but rather as the Director for Corporate Relationships and Entrepreneurship.?

"I want to build a B school at par with your and my alma mater" - Said Pratham Mittal when he first showed me this corporate campus in the heart of Gurgaon. I was blown away by the potential of building something as magical as Stanford right here in India. And to begin to think of the acceleration this can provide to the startup ecosystem in India gave me goosebumps. What was interesting was the strategic location of the campus in the same building that houses the corporate offices of the likes of BCG, Bank of America, EY, Gartner, Samsung, etc. "The location is critical to enable global CXOs to easily fly in for classes on campus. Plus this is 100X less asset heavy compared to other top B schools. So we can invest all that money to provide a world class experience to our students." was Pratham's simple logic. No wonder our teachers include the likes of Naveen Munjal, CEO of Hero Electric, CXOs and MDs from Mckinsey, Tata, BCG, Google, 3 Members of Parliament among others.

Within just 4 months of my joining, my belief in this vision has solidified. The pedagogy at Masters' Union is unique to say the least (Thank you Dr. Nandini Seth !). There are no slides, lectures or traditional classes. To learn business, students actually build businesses with real customers and real revenue. In term 1, students build an e-commerce website and sell products. In term 2, students build a youtube channel with an aim to monetize it.?In term 3, students build a blockchain layer 2 protocol. This is followed by building mobile apps, consulting with local MSMEs, running cloud kitchen, investing from a student run fund and so much more.?

The biggest change I witnessed during my time at Stanford was the mindset shift that occurred by attending the talks of leaders who I looked upto. Their talks included stories of how ordinary people with same inhibitions and fears like you and me started with ordinary (sometimes stupid sounding) ideas to create large scale socioeconomic impact. From Tim Cook to Phil Knight to Sheryl Sandberg and 100s more, I had the fortune to listen to them all and ask questions.

Now here at Masters' Union, we are providing ample opportunities for our students to hear right from the horse's mouth. From hosting Ghazal Alagh Ashneer Grover Kaivalya V. (Founder, Zepto) Dilsher Malhi (Founder, Zupee), our students get to interact with these Masters in their unfiltered versions.

Finally, I am excited to partner with Tarun Gangwar and Swati Ganeti who are building our MasterCamp (Online Bootcamps) and Undergraduate program respectively. Onwards and upwards!
