Towards Building Self Sustaining Ecosystem: Future of Jobs, Skills Development, and Employability in Ethiopia
The 2nd Conference on Human Capital Development in Africa (CHCDA) commenced this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The conference brings together stakeholders from across Africa to discuss critical issues related to human capital development on the continent.
A major theme is the need to invest in skills development and job creation to fully realize Africa's economic potential. Speakers emphasized the pivotal role of human capital in driving economic growth, poverty reduction and sustainable development. Collaboration between government, private sector and civil society is seen as essential to build a demand-driven skills ecosystem and address unemployment challenges.
Key topics include bridging skill gaps, facilitating school-to-work transitions, internships and apprenticeships, ensuring job quality, and the role of the private sector.
