Tuesdays suck! Or is this just me turning 50 years less than a month ago? Trying to remember some significant events that happened on the 29th of June. That was a game-changer.

We are now in the middle of BELGRADE EXPO2027. Belgrade is celebrating its greatness these days. Watching all these people who criticized and spread their hate on social networks in 2023 when we won a candidacy is hilarious. Favorite acquisitions back then were - EXPO is unnecessary and will make only politicians rich, we cannot organize it, or Play for Humanity is irrelevant topic...

But now, these same critical people are getting richer, earning money with their businesses and services, supporting the EXPO organization full-hearted. Also, haters from yesterday became promoters of the fact that the EXPO topic matched the most important paradigm shift. Shift to the focus on human experience, humanity, intimacy, depth, and empathy. That transition to the metaverse was not a technological but a sociological revolution. And now, it is clear that exactly the theory of playing, AI, and gamification have revolutionized our education systems and made us ready for future challenges.

But not only domestic pessimists are interested in observing. Do you remember many mid-management EU administration members talking back in 2023 in mantras like - Same merit for all - or - Do your homework first - or - We don't need new problems in the EU -. Just four years later, all Western Balkan countries are members of the European Economic Area, Single Market, and enjoying 4 Freedoms as Iceland or Norway. And you guess correctly - the same people would tell you now that they were always supporting the idea of offering an inclusive approach to our region and that their game-changing idea was, as they predicted - a real boost for the politicians in the region to accelerate reforms in their own countries and to solve the crisis between Serbia and Kosovo or to achieve a new deal between entities in Bosnia.

Today in a mid of 2027, our continent reached energy independence from Russian gas but also built a new cooperation with China on mutual understanding, healthy competition, and technology exchange. If you remember, back in 2023, Europe imported 98% of processed rare earth materials and components needed for green technology from China. The European industry and business community, not the politics, pushed for the inclusion of the Western Balkans in the European structure. Today we have the industrial backbone of Europe in producing components, row materials, batteries, and green technology in our region.

We Europeans learned our lessons from previous dependencies. Industry investments in products based on chromites, iron-nickel and copper ore in Albania, lead-zink, manganese, cobaltium and antimonium in Bosnia, bauxite in Montenegro, antimony, titanium, molybdenum in Northern Macedonia and lithium, graphite, magnesite, calcite and vanadium in Serbia made our economy more resilient and sustainable.

Humans can rethink our energy consumption, boost our creativity and productivity according to resource limitations, and make technologies that seemed impossible a few years ago. But still, we are not able to control our inner insecurities, our fears of successes and failures, our frustrations, and our fatal resistance to change mindsets. Somewhere in the World, today's winners of EXPO2031 are facing the same EXPO is unnecessary and will make only politicians rich; we cannot organize it - twitter posts.
