'29 Stones on a Pink Patterned Field'.

Of course, none of these stones are real. They are memories and thoughts about stones I have seen or collected. They recall materials seen in factories or old doorways, bits of terrazzo or mosaic floors, rubble in a skip, pebbles on a beach somewhere or stones in a ploughed field. I live in chalk and flint country, by the sea in Ramsgate. I can't move for weirdly shaped flint or chalk pebbles full of holes. I often find fossils, mostly sea urchins. The symmetry and pattern in them jumps out from the rest. My home is dotted with stones. My garden full of them. Most have a story to tell, or at least behave as a trigger, a catalyst to bring back places and experiences, emotional moments, yes really! -
