I spend a loooong time writing my AI playbooks - and one of the most popular is Build A Business in 3 Hours.

The idea of the playbook was showcase ‘chain of thought’ prompting, and help bootstrapping startups, or those dreaming of a side hustle flesh out an MVP version of their new business.

I didn’t imagine it would create an ACTUAL, real life business. With real leads and everything. But it did.

?? Launch of Google’s ChatGPT Killer

I don’t know about you, but my Google usage has dropped by about 90%. Why would I use Google when I can get far more specific answers via ChatGPT4.

Naturally, Google were never going to let their market share slide so dramatically. Yes, they had Bard, but I’ve found its level of understanding low and hallucination levels high.

They’ve long been teasing Google Gemini - AKA the ChatGPT Killer. It was due out in November but went quiet. Then they said it’ll be released next year, but a few days later…

Finally! We got to see what all the build up was about.

And cor, they didn’t disappoint:

• Multimodal Capabilities: Gemini can process and understand a mix of information types, including text, code, audio, images, and video, like ChatGPT4 (but much better…see video below)
• Three Versions:Gemini Ultra: The biggie, not released until 2024Gemini Pro: The one that’s just been launchGemini Nano: Designed for mobile
• State-of-the-Art Performance: Exceeds LLM benchmarks in natural image, audio, video understanding, and mathematical reasoning. It even outperforms human experts in some areas.
• Integration into Google Products: (Of course). Starting with Bard, Google plans to incorporate Gemini into its full suite of products - and as a Google product fan, this is exciting.

So far, so good. To go with the launch, they released this seriously impressive video, showing a level of visual understanding and interaction unlike anything we’ve seen before:

BUT WAIT. Just a day or so later, people started to notice things weren’t quite as they seemed.

• Not all real-time: It wasn't entirely a live demo. It showed more of a "what could be" rather than "what is" in terms of real-time response.
• A little edited: Google used some editing tricks. They took footage, used stills for prompts, and then edited the responses to make it look smoother than it actually was.
• Some staging: Things like the Rock, Paper, Scissors game weren't as spontaneous as they seemed. The AI needed a bit more help and specific prompts than the video let on.

Google admitted to the editing but said they wanted to inspire, not deceive. They insisted the outputs were real, just shortened for the video.

Possibly not the best start.

An even worse start is the fact it isn’t available here in the UK yet, so I can’t do you a walkthrough yet. Do let me know how it is if you’ve got access!

?How much did you use ChatGPT this year?

A bit like Spotify’s 2023 Wrapped, ChatGPT Wrapped is a fun tool to see just how much you’re using it.

Here’s what you do:

• Go to ChatGPT
• Click on your name (bottom left)
• Go to Data Controls
• Then click Export (middle button below)

It says you’ll have to wait about 24 hours (this isn’t quick fun, I’m afraid), but it took about 3 hours to get mine. Then you’ll be emailed a zip file.

(It took a long time to download mine, but as you know, I’m a heavy user!)

Then head here: ChatGPT Wrapped and upload your file.

So, 73% of you voted to keep this new feature, so here it is. This time, a little shorter.

I’m going to show you around my absolute favourite tool, something I use multiple times every single day. It’s Sybill.

Something I don’t mention in the video: that verbatim transcript is SO useful:

• Run onboarding call transcripts through ChatGPT4 to pull out their real pain points, which can then become excellent foundations for content
• Run sales call transcripts through to ensure that your subsequent proposals contain every possible opportunity discussed
• Run team calls through to create and run Personal Improvement Plans to help them with every challenge

Right, I’m showing my age here - but I used to absolutely love Monkey Island, the point-and-click adventure game from the 1990s. You click around, click on objects and select text to say to get through the story.

It was cutting edge at the time, even though it looked like this:

Anyway, someone built a GPT version, and it takes me right back. Choose your own adventure, complete with images. Absolute genius and endless fun if you’re a 90s kid, like me.

??:?? The Dawn of Real Time AI Art

The world of AI image and video has absolutely exploded over the last couple of weeks.

We’ve now got “real time AI”, which quite literally turns doodles into beautiful, photorealistic (or whatever style you’re after) masterpieces. As you draw, it updates, in real time.

The speed of this is insane, though I’d wonder, like most AI image generators, how much of the output you could actually control to get specific results. Great for broad imagery/ideas, probably very poor for if you’re looking to create something specific.

Will AI-generated art become the new Wix/SquareSpace? Build something broad/general - do it yourself. Build something specific - good old-fashioned expert.
