Friday is here! Grab yourself a beverage, and put your feet up for 10 minutes, because – well it's nearly the weekend – and this is probably a good time to get up to speed with all this week's most important news.

Here are the highlights.

On Monday 27th November, we reported that fashion brands and retailers are making false claims about the potential of biomass boilers to help mitigate climate change, according to a new report.

Later that day, we also shared that the textile manufacturer CIEL Textile had partnered with the Reverse Resources (RR) platform which seeks to match textile waste with recycling solutions.

On Tuesday, polymer materials manufacturer 科思创 launched a new aqueous and partially bio-based variant of its impranil polyurethane dispersion technology, which is designed to have a range of applications in the technical textiles sector.

Also, we told you that global fashion brands are falling behind on their commitments on animal welfare, according to a new report from the FOUR PAWS organisation.

On Wednesday, politicians raised concerns about the Chinese ultra fast fashion giant SHEIN 's potential links to forced labour as the company reportedly moves towards a public flotation in the US.

On Thursday, the Textile Exchange launched its 'eTrackit' traceability system which electronically tracks materials certified under its Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Content Standard (RCS).

And, PETA submitted a formal complaint to Canada's competition bureau alleging that two Textile Exchange standards, the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and the Responsible Animal Fiber (RAF) label, are misleading and deceive consumers.

So far today, Friday 1at December, materials science brand PANGAIA and Dutch renewable chemistry company Avantium are teaming up on the development of a sustainable apparel collection based on the latter's 100% plant-based polymer, polyethylene furanoate (PEF).

And, according to a new report, global fibre production increased to record levels last year while the amount of textiles being recycled declined after years of growth.
