I turn 27 today. And I want to share 27 lessons and perspectives that I have gained from my experience of "living my life" that made me who I am today.
- Control the controllables.
- Don’t focus on the adjectives - The outcomes, focus on the verbs - the processes. Trust the process. Enjoy the process.
- Be good. Do good. Leave behind goodness. Be remembered for goodness.
- The fake scenarios in your head are just cheap dopamine hits of you seeking validation from others - your expectations of their perception towards you - which is you telling your subconscious you lack the very qualities you wish to be admired for. Don't indulge in wishful thinking.
- Be emotional. Not emotion-driven.
- Sometimes, you might lose, but that doesn’t make you a loser. As long as you’re learning, you’re always a winner.
- Crying brings out more memories while smiling creates more memories. Do things that make you smile often!
- With the right people, you have no fear of being judged and can unapologetically be yourself at all times.
- You got one life. Try something bold every now and then. Break the norm. Do things differently. You might fail but you’ll fail differently. But you’ll also learn differently.
- Don’t focus on getting into a relationship. Focus on building one.
- Smile and let your smile be the reason for more smiles around you.
- You vs You is your only competition.
- A healthy relationship is where you grow independently together.
- If you fight for your dreams, your dreams will fight for you.
- Pain is temporary. Passion is permanent.
- Only those who can let go are deserving of love. Only those who can fight for what they believe in are capable of talking about kindness and love, because if you don’t fight for your love, what kind of love do you have?
- Life is 20% what happens to you and 80% how you react to it.
- You need not give a fuck and still be kind.
- Nahi ho paaya. Nayi hope aaya. Perspective can transform your living.
- Slow down, you crazy child. You don’t have to do everything at once. There’s time. Don’t use someone else as a measure of how fast you are going. Your race, your pace.
- While everyone else tries to stay motivated, you try to stay disciplined. Discipline is the differentiator.
- Let them hate. Haters gonna be hating. Naysayers gonna be sdaying ‘No’. First, they judge. Then, they appreciate. Finally, they replicate. You just keep doing YOU!
- Love/Treat/Respect yourself the way you want others to love/treat/respect you like.
- When given a choice, always choose love. Hate can eclipse love but love has the power to transform hate.
- Appreciate the little things.
- Learning in life is not a long journey, learning is a lifelong journey.
- The most beautiful thing about being who you are is just that- there’s beauty in being you. Be yourself.
Yes, there are more than 27 lessons. 27 for 27 felt nice as a hook. Sorry :)
27 for 27, for life means 27 lessons from 27 years that I'm going to carry with me for the rest of my life. And I hope some of these have helped you see "The Art of Living" from a different lens.
