Digital Marketing Is No Longer Digital!

If I look back 10 to 15 years, digital marketing was considered a nice-to-have for businesses, while traditional marketing was the go-to for everyone.

In 2010, I wrote an article for the Marketing Association of Pakistan magazine titled "Go More Digital Than Traditional," emphasizing that businesses should focus more on digital marketing than on traditional channels because traditional marketing methods are:

  • Expensive
  • Not easily accessible
  • Require more administration
  • And most importantly, not easily measurable

On the other hand, digital marketing is:

  • Easily accessible, and anyone can start in minutes
  • Inexpensive
  • And, of course, measurable

Today, digital marketing has become mainstream, while conventional channels are becoming obsolete. There is no business today that doesn’t use digital marketing, which is a blessing for small and medium-sized businesses due to the reasons mentioned above.

Large organizations that used to take digital marketing for granted are now spending large budgets on digital channels because the next generations, like Gen Z and Gen Alpha, are completely digital. They don't watch TV or read newspapers.

That is why digital marketing has become more conventional than the actual conventional marketing itself.

Therefore, I believe calling digital marketing simply "marketing" is enough.
