What email marketing personalization really is?
People still think that putting a person's name in the subject line is personalization!
Every other email you intentionally or unintentionally subscribed to has your name.
So what's the catch?
It would probably have been a great thing to see your own name in an email from a company 15 years ago. It gave us the feeling that this particular company knew us by name.
But when every other company knows your name, as it is done automatically, it is no longer a game.
So, what is email personalization?
Now, email personalization is about sending the right email message at the right time.
When a person wants to learn more about how a particular product can help solve their problem, sending them a "buy now" message is the wrong personalization. Instead, the message should educate him how your product can help.
Doing this kind of personalization is not easy and has always been one of the biggest challenges for marketers.
But if you crack this code with your email database, you hit the gold.
