? UNSW Students Shine at The Hult Prize Summits in Bangkok
Two UNSW students, Nicolas De Matteis and Joseph Whyte, have won The Hult Prize Summits in Bangkok, Thailand. From over 10,000 teams, they made it to the top 12 and will now travel to London in August for the Global Accelerator, where they will compete for the $1 Million USD prize. They received $10,000 from UNSW Founders and The Centre for Social Impact to support their innovative biofuel technology from algae. This decentralised fuel resource aims to benefit farmers. UNSW Founders had the highest number of applications in Australia, sending three teams to the Summits: two to Thailand and one to Portugal.?
?? Pioneering Health Innovation Through Impactful Investments
Today, we spotlight Australian Medical Angels (AMA), a leading angel investment syndicate founded in 2019. AMA bridges the gap between medical professionals and health tech startups, focusing on telehealth, obstetric monitoring, and more. They recently launched the Medical Angels Rolling Fund and CICA Lab for healthcare innovation. Interested in joining? AMA welcomes Clinician Investors and all wholesale investors. We would be remiss not to mention Chris Baxter and the team at Baxter IP, Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys, for their unwavering pro bono support since 2019. Last week, over three intensive days, their team conducted IP & Corporate Due Diligence on 50 startups shortlisted for the UNSW Founders 10x program.

?? The MVP Ventures Program is designed to?support startups and innovative SME’s?through the?product lifecycle between early-stage research and mature investment opportunities. It offers?grants of?$25,000 to $50,000?in co-contribution funding to drive the commercialisation of highly innovative and new products or processes. ?

?? The Industry Growth Program is now open, with startups and innovative small and medium businesses able to apply for expert advice on their commercialisation and growth projects. The Industry Growth Program enables eligible SMEs to receive advice from industry experts, with a particular focus on the early stages when businesses often have difficulty turning innovative ideas into profitable products, processes and services. Once you have received this advice, you may choose to apply for:?
- Grants of 50,000 to $250,000 to support early-stage commercialisation projects.
- Grants of $100,000 to $5 million for commercialisation and growth projects.
