26 Healthy Habits for A Healthy Life | Personal Growth & Development

In this post, I’m going to share the 26 best healthy habits to live a happy life.

When it comes to being fit and healthy, you’re always reminded to put healthy habits in your daily routine.

Adopting healthy habits can help your brain to start instructing your body to take corrective actions.

And these corrective actions can make your life healthier than you think.

If you really want to live a happy and joyful life, you should be adding the best habits to your daily routine.

Fortunately, I’ve listed out some of these habits you can add to life a healthy life.

1. Put God First

Thank God for everything you have. Remember, God always going to help you. God always blesses you, you just need to believe in yourself.

2. Do yoga or Exercise Everyday

It’s no secret but you should get accustomed to doing YOGA or Exercise. No matter how tight your schedule is, you have to spend 1 hour daily for YOGA / Gym / or Exercise.

3. Drink Enough Water

According to the US national Academics of Science, engineering, and medicine, ‘The daily water intake is 3.7 liters for men and 2.7 litter for women.

It could be more or less depending on your physical activities. For instance, bodybuilders and athletes require more water than a person sitting in front of a desktop.

4. Walk 10,000 Steps Everyday

Walking 10,000 steps each day can reduce the risk of death and the effect of sitting for too long.

It can help improve the health conditions such as type-2 diabetes

In studies, it has been found that if you walk less than 5,000 steps a day, your body is unable to burn fat for that day. And this excessive fat can cause cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

So here you’ve seen why walking 10,000 every day is one of the few healthy habits you should be adopting.

5. Read, Watch or Listen Good Stuff Everyday

The human brain plays an important role in creative thinking and intelligence.

What you read, see or hear can affect your thinking and intelligence.

If you choose bad things, it produces destructive and negative thinking that can lead to mental illness and is ultimately responsible for chronic illness.

So you need to surround yourself with great things. And reading, listening and watching great content enhance your creative thinking and intelligence.

It strengthens your brain and, as a result, improves your mental health that eventually enhances your physical health as well.

6. Get Up Early In the Morning

Waking up early in the morning can help you stay productive and healthy throughout the day.

The best thing to get up early in the morning is that you can do more work than others in 24 hours.

This can be contradictory for night owls because they believe in working at the end of the day.

But the truth is that the human body is more productive in the morning. This means that you can finish more work in the morning in less time than at night.

7. Wash Your Hand Before Eating

People often forget to wash their hands resulting in the spread of germs and disease. Even if you are not sick, you can still transmit hundreds of bacteria that can easily make your grandmother sick.

So Handwashing is one of the few healthy habits you should never ignore. At least now as it can protect you from covid-19 and other respiratory infections that cause diarrhea and pneumonia.

Note: Do not use hand-sanitizers containing the excess amount of ‘Menthol’. (Learn more)

8. Eat Lean Protein

Protein is an important nutrient of a diet as it regulates blood sugar and responsible for essential body functions like tissue repair, muscle building, enzyme reactions, and more.

There are different types of proteins based on a fat ratio. And lean protein is one of these types.

Lean protein source usually contains low fat and high protein. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), lean protein sources have less than 10 grams of total fat and 4.5 gram or less of saturated fat per 100 grams.

So incorporating lean protein into your diet can help you lose weight and control cholesterol.

9. Sleep Well

According to https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/, Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety.

10. Eat Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are a great source of vitamins, minerals, fibers, and phytochemicals.

Consuming a good amount of vegetables and fruits helps in filling the lack of vitamins and minerals in your body.

Most importantly, these are low in fat and help you to reduce obesity, lower your cholesterol and blood pressure.

And top of all, it lowers the risk of diabetes, stroke, and cancer.

11. Eat Slowly

I have practically found that eating slowly can help you lose weight and strengthen your digestion.

I have been doing this for years now and I can say with full certainty that eating slowly is one of the few habits that people ignore all the time.

Chewing your food 32 times before swallowing allows enzymes to absorb the possible nutrition from your food.

Ghrelin is a hormone that controls your appetite. It takes 20 minutes to alarm your brain to stop eating.

Now if you finish your lunch/dinner within 10 minutes, you can still feel hungry because your brain is not alarmed yet. As a result, overeating.

And because of excessive eating, your body needs to put extra energy to digest more food that makes you lazy or inactive.

But if you eat slowly, you’ll take more time to finish the same amount of food. Ultimately, you eat less and as a result…

  • Weight loss
  • Easy digestion
  • Easy absorption of nutrients

12. Give 30–60 Minutes to Yourself Everyday

Once in a while, I used to sit alone in my dorm room and acknowledge myself. It’s so relaxing.

A complete peace, no social media, no phone calls, no talks. Just you and your inner voice.

Believe me, it’s going to enlighten your thoughts and beliefs. It helps you discover your inner voice.

Most importantly, it’s going to strengthen your own believes and give you the power to visualize your dreams.

And you should be considering it as one of the best healthy habits on the list.

13. Make Yourself Laugh

It’s been said that laughter is the cheapest medicine. And it is!

In fact, healthy laughter can reduce stress, strengthen your immune system, and lower your blood pressure.

So don’t forget to laugh daily. And one of the best ways to do this is to watch a comedy show or joke with your funny friends.

14. Take Risks

Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg once said, “The biggest risk in this world is not to take risks.”

Despite this, people often play small because the human brain is designed to keep any obstacle away.

But trust me, there is no passion for playing small. As a result of doing this, you will settle for the ordinary.

Taking risks can help you get a lot in your life and you are more likely to challenge yourself to fight for your dreams.

15. Play Chess/Mind Games to Exercise Your Brain

With the great adaptive ability, the human brain is capable of processing hundreds of thousands of data every day.

And playing chess or other brain games can definitely improve the functioning of your brain and make it even more powerful adaptive software.

It stimulates your brain cells and improves your cognitive and strategic thinking. And ultimately helps you develop problem-solving skills.

Despite all, playing chess 1–2 hours a week can prevent Alzheimer’s, improve creative thinking, and increase IQ levels as well.

It is better to have a healthy mind than a sedentary one.

16. Listen to a Motivational Speech before You Sleep

I am accustomed to listening to good thoughts every night. Because it removes me from negativity, reduces stress, and helps me sleep well.

Doing so releases dopamine hormone which promotes positive vibes and happiness.

By keeping this healthy habit in your routine, you can empower your thoughts.

17. Organize Your Local Landscape

The first and foremost thing that I do every morning is making my bed, arranging my clothes, and everything that is spread on my bed and floor.

It gives me a sense of accomplishment, a bit of positivity, and increases the focus of my mind.

And it’s a great habit of a productive person. You can too do the same to increase focus.

18. Be Disciplined, Be Responsible, and Be Patience

A person with these three qualities can achieve anything in his life.

Although I am not very disciplined, I am responsible and patient. And because of these two qualities, I am capable of the same task over a long period of time.

So the point here is that if you can stick to one thing for longer, then you are more likely to win.

19. Prepare Healthy Meal At Home

Don’t grab outdoor foods all the time because it contains unhygienic substances that can make your body sick.

A habit of eating outside daily can promote health issues including headache, depression, acne, constipation, dental distress, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and more.

So why you want to make illness your choice while you have another choice to stay healthy. And it is preparing a healthy meal at home.

20. Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day

Teeth are an integral part of our digestive system. They break the food into small pieces to digest it. Not only this, but teeth also adorn your face.

And brushing your teeth twice a day is one of the best healthy habits to keep your teeth clean and strong.

21. Take Deep Breathe Before You Sleep

This is another lesser-known healthy habit that I have been practicing for over a year now.

It helps me forget everything going on in my mind, reduces stress, and helps me fall asleep quickly.

You can practice it every night for 5–10 minutes before going to sleep. It can help you to live longer, sleep early, reduce the risk of heart attack and strengthen your respiratory system.

22. Don’t Take Pills Unnecessarily

We all need medicine because most of us suffer from chronic diseases. But I know some of my friends and relatives who take pills for minor ailments like sleep and headaches.

Do you really consider it a good idea?

Excessive drug intake can lower your immune system as your body stops producing antibodies to fight minor diseases. As a result, your body becomes so fragile that it is unable to fight against very small diseases.

Therefore, I suggest that you do not take pills unnecessarily instead take only when needed.

23. Add Extra Income Streams

Who doesn’t want to be financially free? Well, we all want it!

And why not, it enables you to buy food and pay monthly bills.

If you can somehow reduce your financial stress, then you can definitely lead a healthy life.

And this can be done in many ways. You can start a big business, but for that, you need to work your ass off.

But if this is not assured for you, then you can add extra earning streams to reach your potential finances which can give you financial freedom and make you mentally and financially stable.

24. Finish Small but Important Task Early In the Morning

As I said, morning time is more productive than any time during that day. And everything you do in the morning takes less time and energy.

And if you finish some useful work in the morning, it gives you a feeling of accomplishment that encourages you to do more for the whole day.

It not only makes you productive but also keeps you healthy and disciplined.

25. Consider Failure as Part of Your Success

You need to understand the fact that you cannot achieve success without fail. Failure makes you more powerful than success

Therefore, it is better that you consider failure a part of your success. Because if you already know something, then you can better prepare yourself.

26. Don’t Live With the Mindset of Scarcity

I do not support the scarcity mindset because it reduces your abilities and limits your thoughts.

At the beginning of my college, I used to think that a job is the only way to live a happy life.

And because of this, I never thought beyond it, I never tried anything different.

I never insisted on taking risks myself and, as a result, I was surrounded by things like jobs.

But later I realized that it is all about mindset. If you set your mind to achieve something big, your life will be in a different direction and this time you will think about learning more, producing more, and achieving more, but not trivial.

Changing your mindset from ‘scarcity’ to ‘abundance’ can help you to take big steps and can ultimately help you achieve greatness in your life.

Therefore you need to think so audacious that it can challenge your abilities and give you a new perspective to live your life.
