250. The Most Extraordinary Version of Yourself

A Short Story About A Female Senior Executive

A female middle manager of a small, $8M business got an opportunity to run a $35M part of a Fortune 500 company. She took the job and was immediately petrified.

  • She didn't know what to do as the leader
  • She didn't think she was as smart as the other leaders
  • She didn't know how to communicate effectively with the team
  • She never worked in a big company before
  • She didn't think she deserved to be in the role

That's when I started working with her as a leadership coach.

We quickly embraced the superhero in her and taught her the 8 Secret Habits of Successful Leaders.

She turned the financials of the company around and transformed the culture.

Within less than 18 months, she was given the job of running an $80m business unit. And she's primed to double the revenue.

This is what she said to me:

Are you ready to learn the 8 Secret Habits of Successful Leaders?

Are you ready to find the superhero in you?

I loved this quote, "Because dreams don’t happen without obstacles. You don’t win the fight without getting punched a few times." I am living this right now, and learning to let myself imagine the future has meant huge progress for my mental game. Thanks for sharing this gem Jeff Matlow!

My motivation gas tank is topped up after reading this Jeff Matlow! Love the "gravitational force of fear" concept - a reminder that resistance is often strongest at the beginning, but once you reach escape velocity, then it becomes much smoother sailing ??
