25 years with Wellspect… and still counting

Wellspect veteran Mia Petterson has been with the company for more than 25 years. She started at the urology department, where world-famous catheter LoFric saw the light already in 1983. She then moved on to start up the new Nordics promotion warehouse and has been responsible for its existence – in many shapes – ever since. And it has never occurred to her to leave.?

- Time passes so quickly, says Mia. There are always things to do here, and for a practical person like me, who likes to keep an overview of things, it is nice to be able to take tasks all the way from start to delivery. To get things resolved in the best possible way. To make a difference! Because I actually feel that I do when I solve problems and challenging tasks, says Mia with a smile.?

“I like to solve challenges and make a difference”?

Mia starts her day by creating an overview of what’s going on and making up a plan – with room for quick changes, of course. Because a day here rarely turns out the way it was planned. Have the brochures arrived? Are deliveries on time? Is the exhibition equipment on its way??

Looking back at those early days

Mia Pettersson first developed her career within urology production, where, in the early years of LoFric, the catheters were manually assembled before they were sent for further coating with the unique Urotonic Surface. After this process, they were manually inspected to ensure the highest quality and safety for the users. - We then punched a hole in each catheter by hand – just imagine! Those were the days! says Mia and laughs. -All the work is now automated, but the Urotonic surface is the same and still unique - and helps users to a better health every day!?

Mia stayed with Urology production until the need for a Nordic promotion warehouse became apparent to her managers. The position to run the warehouse attracted Mia's attention, and as the obvious candidate, she got the job.??

It is now 22 years since the promotion warehouse saw the light of day, and to Mia, it has become much more than just a job. -I totally identify myself with my department. After all, I have helped create it from the very start, she says and continues: It's a special thing when you do something from scratch. It comes close to your heart, like a personal responsibility.?

The warehouse feels like an extra child to me

Although Mia Pettersson actually is a very social person, the hours alone in the warehouse, with only one close colleague to share her workday, suit her quite well – it makes work efficient. The working days can be fun, hard, difficult and challenging at the same time, but that's no more difficult than having an extra child, says Mia and laughs. -Because it actually resembles having an extra child. I go all in when it comes to work and I feel a great responsibility for it. I have fought many years to make it work smoothly.??

The warehouse? has evolved and developed over time, following the needs of the markets, says Mia, who in addition to the "extra child" in M?lndal is married and a mother of two, with a horse and a dog to make sure she’s busy when off duty.?

You need to adapt to circumstances?

For the past five years, the promotion warehouse has been located just 400 meters down the road from Wellspect’s headquarters in M?lndal, Sweden. It is from here that product samples are sent directly to users throughout the Nordic countries, and Mia takes care of the lot. In fact, the department has moved from one location to the other five times, and on each new address, Mia Pettersson has met new colleagues, established new routines and adapted to the new premises.?

“It has never been boring being me at Wellspect”?

?I try to make the best of the situation and create a sense of new beginning so that the department is constantly developing. It has meant a lot for my personal progress as well. It has never been boring being me at Wellspect, says Mia with a smile.?

In addition, many colleagues have joined and left the company over the years. ?

- It’s a funny feeling that some of those who were my role models and taught me everything I know, have left the company or retired. This means that it’s my turn to be a role model for new colleagues. But despite her many years with Wellspect, it has never occurred to Mia to leave the company and work somewhere else. - I wouldn't have stayed here for 25 years if I didn't think it was a good workplace. You may not go to work with a big smile on your face every single day, but all in all, I really do enjoy my job. Wellspect’s mission and culture have made me stay with the same employer for 25 years now.??

“Now it’s my turn to be a role model for new colleagues”?

- The years have gone by so quickly and so much has happened. I've never been bored and have always had a chance to evolve within the company, Mia Pettersson concludes.?
