25 Years of Service!

As I mark my 25th year in this incredible industry, I feel immensely grateful for the continued journey and the opportunities that have come my way. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my family, both immediate and my extended Planned family, and to all my industry colleagues. Your impact, inspiration and education have played a significant role in making this milestone possible.

While I believe that Planned is only in its early stages as a four-generation start-up, I have learned many valuable lessons along the way. Here are three lessons that I would go back and tell my younger self on my first formal day, excluding the days I spent cleaning the Livingston Mall during the summer of 1992.

Firstly, never act on emotion. Remember that success is a marathon, not a sprint. It's great to be passionate about what you're doing, and it's part of the Planned way. However, allowing emotions to take over can lead to unnecessary setbacks. Instead, believe in your values and let great things happen over time.

Secondly, always acknowledge the contributions of your team. Demonstrate gratitude consistently and take the time to learn from and collaborate with everyone, regardless of their role or length of time in the company. I have set aside specific times throughout the week to communicate with our growing team, and it has made a significant difference both strategically and emotionally for all. By doing this, you and your company will grow together.

Finally, give yourself a break. Life's journey is full of ups and downs, and it's rarely a straight path. Embrace the awesome moments and accomplishments, as well as the obstacles and challenges. Lead with humility, strength and patience.

So, take some time to celebrate, be present, be thankful, and be good to yourself. Life is a gift, and this isn't a dress rehearsal.?Thank you for an incredible quarter century, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds!
