25 years of Dailyfresh: how it all began

This summer marks the 25th anniversary of Dailyfresh, and we would like to take a look back at where it all started.

The Beginning of a success story

One day in 1997 Adrie Visbeen and Dirk Post met at a party of Stena Line. It was thanks to their wives that they decided to start a collaboration and in May 1998 the DailyFresh operation was born. Norfolk Line joined in the idea of a partnership in England and the companies jointly rented an office and warehouse in Poeldijk. Despite the planners still having their own customers, phone lines, and computer systems, this was the start of "DailyFresh 1".

DailyFresh 1: a bold collaboration that made a difference

The name was deliberately chosen as a testing period to see if it had a chance of success. If not, the companies could easily continue independently. In the week before Ascension Day, the entire warehouse was filled with pallets, but there were no trailers available to transport the goods to the United Kingdom. Nevertheless, nobody was discouraged, and the determination to make it a success was immediately palpable.

Extraordinary wins in the English market

DailyFresh became an enormous success, experiencing unprecedented popularity in England. The following year, the company even won the "Anglo Dutch Award for Enterprise”, which is presented to a British or Dutch company that excels commercially and organizationally.

Room to grow with the new crossdock center

DailyFresh has now been in existence for 25 years and has moved a total of five times, with the highlight being our beautiful new crossdock center in Maasdijk. Often referred to as the brainchild of Post-Kogeko and Visbeen, Dailyfresh is seen as the pioneer behind the merger in 2019.

And now, in 2023, DLG Dailyfresh continues to break records with the tremendous volumes passing through the new crossdock center!
