25 Years Ago We Started an Agency

25 Years Ago We Started an Agency

Twenty-five years ago my boss became my business partner.

?

We hung our shingle as BizCom Associates and I assumed a job title I never dreamed of having: business owner.

?

I’m not a big risk-taker. But after working for Scott White at his previous agency, I figured it was a safe bet. His honesty and track record evoked a confidence I was ready to follow. And, true to that intuition, the journey has been remarkable.

?

Together we asked and answered the hard questions, like:

?

-?????? Where should we sign a lease?

-?????? How soon can we hire help?

-?????? What will it take to make payroll?

-?????? Can we grow this business and still have a life?

?

Success started by wearing all the hats. Work involved being doers and dreamers at the same time. But with a little luck and a lot of skills, a fantastic agency was born.

?

We created jobs. We built teams. We welcomed clients and did great things.

?

We survived the dot-com boom and bust. We conquered the recession. We outgrew offices. Then we outgrew a pandemic.

?

Funny how a crisis in our line of work moves you to the front of the line. The last few years have spawned tremendous growth.

?

How do you top that?? You acquire another agency, of course!

?

At the start of this year, we purchased Brand J (formerly Brand Journalists) and added a slew of complimentary services and talented staff to the equation.

?

Lo’ and behold, here we are 25 years later with almost 100 franchise brands on our client roster and the best dang team in the business.

?

To say we are nothing like the agency that first opened its doors on Oct. 1, 1999, would be an understatement.

?

We have evolved. We have grown.

?

PR. Website Design. Videos. Influencer campaigns. Thought leadership. Lead gen advertising. The list keeps expanding alongside our amazing team.

?

But nothing compares to the close friendships we have forged and the experiences we have shared. My thanks go out to amazing clients, incredible team members and the partner who had the vision to start it all.

?

For the next few days, as BizCom comes together for our annual agency retreat, one thing is sure.

?

After 25 years, the best is yet to come.

?
