25 for 25: Book support

Go into any bookstore and pick up any popular book, and chances are they received some help along the way.

There’s no shame in seeking help during the writing process—and if you follow the proper steps in finding and hiring your collaborators, they can help you write a book that is sharper and stronger than you could have ever imagined.

Here are my biggest lessons about book support:

• While there are differences between ghostwriters and coaches, there are also many similarities.
• AI is great for a lot of things! Writing book text isn't one of them.
• It's easy for doubt to creep in as you write your book. And if you're not careful, the feedback you receive could derail your momentum.
• The editing process is kind of like dental surgery. You know you need to get it done, and no matter how you prepare, it’s going to hurt. But it will hopefully help in the end.
