#25 "The 3-9 pm Diet"
Introduction:
When I was 66 years old on January 22, 2020 I was officially diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairmet-MCI-a form of dementia. At one point in my treatment my doctor had the 'Put Your Life In Order" talk with my wife and I meaning expect the worst because your cognitive tests are showing your MCI is getting worse! Since that time both of my sisters who were also diagnosed with dementia have died. I believe that one of the things my sisters and I shared besides genetics related to our dementia were decades of poor diet combined with a lack of physical exercise.
However, in my case I was very lucky because I was diagnosed early in my condition, and my doctor recommended a book by Maggie Moon "The Mind Diet" which my wife and I practiced, and which resulted in my being the first patient my doctor had ever discharged from care once diagnosed with dementia.
So since that time I have been following what other approaches could be used to prevent my MCI from getting worse, this led me to the Youtube presentation by Dr. Matthew Philips on the topic of "Fasting & Ketosis to treat dementia".

In the video Dr Phillips describes how he has incorporated fasting in his life in that he only has one meal a day to reduce his bodies generation of glucose spikes. He further believes that the mitochondria in our bodies may be damaged by having too many meals. So really this approach to limiting when food is consumed to just 1/4 of a day=to six hours limits the impact on the mitochondria and changes brain chemistry and the brain's access to energy. Or at least that is my reasoning.
I have incorporated this approach to limit myself to only eating from between the time of 3-9 pm each day, with one main meal during that time. Hence the name of this approach "The 3-9 pm Diet".
What I have found to date is I have more energy, less drowsyness and less cravings for junk food.

The second thing I have incorporated is the removal of sugar from my diet.
As I progress in living "The 3-9 pm Diet" I will post what I find, but from the point of view of what people can do that does not cost huge amounts of money or time, that is a pragmatic approach to improving your brain chemistry.
As I find new and adopt new approaches I will post those for your information. However these are not from a medical profession or doctor perspective, but from a patient perspective in that I want to do what I can to live a better life, and improve my brain chemistry.
All for now, peace be with you!
